(Dan Tri) - A video recording the scene of the elephant Daow Mongkol in Thailand stirring food and pounding ingredients with its trunk like a professional chef has attracted attention on social networks.

A video of an elephant named Daow Mongkol (Blessed Star) showing off his cooking skills, posted on social media, quickly went viral with hundreds of thousands of views, more than 100,000 likes and nearly 1,000 comments.

In the video, Daow Mongkol skillfully stirs ingredients on a pan while being cheered on by her caregiver.

In addition, this elephant also showed off his talent in making the famous Thai papaya dish, which delighted many people.

The cooking elephant is causing a stir on Thai social media (Video: TikTok @von0801736).

Even though the food on the pan was burnt and smoking, many people still expressed admiration for Daow Mongkol's unique skills.

In the comments, many people humorously suggested that this elephant might soon open his own restaurant. "He's even more productive than my husband at home," one woman commented.

Daow Mongkol is no stranger to the Thai online community. This elephant has nearly 500,000 followers on TikTok and regularly appears in daily life videos.

In addition to his cooking skills, Daow Mongkol is often taken by his owner to offer alms to monks - a typical cultural feature of Thailand.

In 2023, a clip of this elephant also attracted attention when Daow Mongkol intentionally fell on the road, begging for durian, making many people laugh.

According to Ms. Khun Thawan, Daow Mongkol's caretaker, the 7-year-old male elephant has been very affectionate since he was a child.

"It is very happy, mischievous and loves to eat. Besides, it also has special abilities, from dancing to crawling without much training," Ms. Khun Thawan shared.

However, some social media users have expressed concerns about the elephant training method, fearing that using animals for entertainment activities could affect their welfare.

One user shared: "It looks cute, but I hope this baby elephant is trained by rewards, not punishments." Another retorted: "In Thailand, we can treat elephants like our own children."
