At about 11:50 a.m., the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center received information that the GT Unity ship, Vietnamese nationality, 7,631 tons, carrying FO crude oil, was traveling from Malaysia to Dung Quat when the electrical warehouse in the engine room caught fire.

The location of the incident is 104 nautical miles from Con Dao ( Ho Chi Minh City), 191 nautical miles from Vung Tau, with strong southwest winds of level 3. 16/20 crew members left the ship, 4 people stayed.
Director of Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration Le Do Muoi has requested the issuance of a maritime notice, notifying the Navy, Coast Guard and relevant forces to coordinate urgent search and rescue.
Through communication channels, the Liberian ship Androusa approached the ship in distress and rescued all 20 crew members of the burning ship, one of whom was seriously injured.
At 1:15 p.m., SAR 413 was dispatched from Vung Tau to the scene to bring a crew member back to shore.
