President of the Malaysian Football Federation resigns, national team faces turmoil

(Dan Tri) - Malaysian media reported that the President of the Malaysian Football Association (FAM), Datuk Joehari Ayub, submitted his resignation last weekend.

The above information was published by Malaysia's leading English-language daily New Straits Times last night (August 25). New Straits Times shared: "Information shows that Datuk Joehari Ayub submitted his resignation last Friday, due to health reasons."

“Datuk Joehari Ayub has been absent from most of the FAM events and group photos recently,” Malaysia’s leading English daily added.

Also according to Malaysian media, the person most likely to replace President Datuk Joehari Ayub in the new leadership role of FAM is Vice President Datuk Yusoff Mahadi.

The resignation of Datuk Joehari Ayub was called a “shock” by the Malaysian press, as he had not been in the FAM presidency for long. Datuk Joehari Ayub assumed the position in February this year. His term was expected to last until 2029, until news of his resignation emerged.
