On May 26, 2025, officers of Market Management Team No. 6 inspected a business establishment in Lang Son city that was operating on the TikTok platform and seized 500 foam sandals and handbags with signs of smuggling.

According to the Market Management Teams under the Provincial Market Management Department, in recent times, the Provincial Market Management Teams have been increasing their inspection and control activities in the area, as well as organizing professional measures to detect establishments operating in the e-commerce environment. Thereby, the Market Management force in the whole province has detected and handled 20 establishments operating through social networking sites with the behavior of selling smuggled goods and goods of unknown origin (the number of violating establishments increased nearly 3 times compared to April 2025). The Provincial Market Management Agency has fined establishments violating the business of smuggling goods and goods of unknown origin in the e-commerce environment VND 73.6 million. The value of the violating goods is nearly VND 83 million.

Typically, on May 26, 2025, Market Management Team No. 6 conducted a surprise inspection of an establishment with online business activities on the TikTok platform in Phu Loc 1 urban area, Hoang Van Thu ward, Lang Son city. Through the inspection, it was discovered that the establishment was conducting online business with items that showed signs of smuggling, and the unit seized 500 products including: foam slippers and handbags.

Mr. Dang Van Ngoc, Head of the Provincial Market Management Department, said that in order to prevent smuggled goods and goods of unknown origin from circulating through online business channels, the leaders of the Provincial Market Management Department have been directing the Market Management Teams in charge of the localities to proactively develop plans for specialized inspections and peak inspections of business activities through e-commerce platforms and social networks. In particular, focusing on controlling businesses selling high-risk items such as cosmetics, functional foods, medicines, essential consumer goods, electronics, high-end fashion , etc.

At the same time, the Market Management Force proactively coordinated with specialized departments of the Provincial Police to collect and verify information from websites, e-commerce sites, social networks, mobile apps, etc. From there, plans were made to conduct surprise inspections, trace the source of goods, warehouses, and transit points.

In addition, the provincial Market Management Department also established a specialized task force on e-commerce. These specialized task forces are equipped with digital monitoring tools such as software to scan content and detect violations; software to monitor accounts and analyze online seller behavior data; establish a "hotline" and a channel to receive information about violations in the e-commerce environment... Thereby, it aims to promptly detect and prevent individuals and businesses in the e-commerce environment from trading in smuggled goods and goods of unknown origin to consumers in the province.

Discussing this issue, Mr. Lieu Anh Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: to prevent smuggled goods and goods of unknown origin through online business channels, the Department of Industry and Trade has also directed the Market Management force to proactively coordinate with other functional forces to closely monitor the area to review, monitor and regularly inspect establishments operating in the e-commerce environment in the province.

At the same time, the Department of Industry and Trade also directed specialized departments to contact and coordinate with domestic e-commerce platforms to regularly review and censor business establishments in Lang Son province that have registered to sell on e-commerce platforms.

To prevent smuggled goods and goods of unknown origin through online business, along with the drastic participation of management agencies and functional forces, consumers also need to be alert and carefully choose the type of goods to order through online channels. At the same time, consumers should also choose reputable e-commerce platforms to order goods. These are to avoid risks and damages to consumers when buying smuggled goods, goods of unknown origin and goods that do not ensure quality.
