In recent years, clearly defining the role in gender equality, family and children, the Da Nang City Labor Federation (DLF) has directed all levels of unions to focus on coordinating with authorities and professionals at the same level to strengthen propaganda to raise awareness about child care, protection andeducation . Propaganda content focuses on the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws on preventing violence and child abuse, building a safe and healthy educational environment for children to develop comprehensively.
In the period of 2020-2025 alone, the entire City Trade Union system organized nearly 15,000 propaganda sessions and more than 600 thematic activities, forums, seminars... with practical contents: knowledge of reproductive health care, marriage - family, care for children under 6 years old, prevention of child abuse, challenges of women in the integration period... The forms of propaganda are increasingly diverse such as on the City Trade Union fanpage, the Labor and Trade Union television page, Newspaper and Radio, Da Nang Television, grassroots radio system...
Thanks to the promotion of propaganda, employers, especially in the business sector, are more aware of their roles and responsibilities in child care. Many grassroots unions have proactively coordinated to organize meaningful care activities such as giving gifts to union members' children, granting scholarships and rewards to students with good academic performance, supporting disabled and orphaned children, etc. In addition, the City Labor Federation has also established many support funds such as the "Child Protection" Fund, the "Union Social Activities" Fund from union members' contributions and social mobilization. From these sources, every year, unions at all levels organize visits and give gifts to tens of thousands of children who are children of workers in difficult circumstances, suffering from serious illnesses, or affected by work accidents, etc.
Notably, over the past 5 years, more than 100,000 workers, civil servants and laborers in difficult circumstances have received support gifts on the occasion of Tet, Workers' Month and Action Month for Children. More than 25,000 students who are children of union members with excellent academic achievements have been recognized. Nearly 11,000 Mid-Autumn gifts worth more than 5.5 billion VND have been given to workers' children. On the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival every year, the City Labor Federation allocates the budget to give gifts to children of union members in difficult circumstances. Each gift is worth 500,000 VND, along with candy and toys suitable for their age, not only bringing joy to the children but also adding to the warm feelings of the union organization. Not stopping there, the City Labor Federation also implemented the giving of savings books to 6 children who have lost one or both parents due to the impact of Covid-19, each book worth 10 million VND. The annual interest will be paid directly by the organization, and when the children turn 18, they will receive the entire book to cover their studies and career. This is a practical and humane action that demonstrates long-term sharing.
From socialized funds and union members' mobilization, the superior union organized scholarships for more than 3,250 students with a total value of more than 1.625 billion VND. Many grassroots unions flexibly organized gift-giving and scholarship programs from 100,000 to 500,000 VND depending on conditions, demonstrating practical concern from the grassroots. At the Pink Lotus Kindergarten (under the Hoa Vang District Labor Federation), the work of taking care of union members' children is maintained regularly. The school's Union President Tran Thi Anh Ly shared: "On every holiday such as Children's Day and Mid-Autumn Festival, the school organizes picnics, games, and awards to teachers' children to encourage their spirit, while connecting union members' families together in a warm and joyful atmosphere."
Responding to the 2025 Action Month for Children with the theme "Practical actions, prioritizing resources for children", the City Labor Federation directed 100% of industry, district, and county unions to organize practical activities suitable to the conditions of each unit. In particular, 196 students who are children of union members with excellent achievements in the 2024-2025 school year were commended and awarded scholarships of 1 million VND/student along with study gifts. In addition, 300 children with difficult circumstances received scholarships for overcoming difficulties (1 million VND/student); 73 children who are children of full-time union officials with good academic achievements received encouragement scholarships (500,000 VND/student). All funds were transferred early to grassroots unions to organize year-end commendations, ensuring meaningfulness and timeliness. Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Oanh, Head of the City Labor Federation's Professional Department, affirmed: "Activities to care for children who are working people not only demonstrate the social responsibility of the trade union organization, but also contribute to creating motivation for workers, civil servants, and laborers to work with peace of mind, building a prosperous and progressive family life. Each gift and scholarship given not only has material meaning but also encouragement, pride and the spread of profound human values."
The practical actions of the city’s trade union organization in recent times have contributed to lighting up dreams, fostering confidence and accompanying thousands of children of union members to overcome difficulties, strive to study well and live well. That is also a practical action to realize the goal of comprehensive human development and ensure sustainable social security in the new period.
