3-time SEA Games 11-a-side champion player joins Vietnam women's futsal team

On the afternoon of October 17, the list of the Vietnamese women's futsal team gathering to prepare for the 2024 Southeast Asian futsal finals was announced. Accordingly, a series of 11-a-side players such as Tran Thi Thuy Trang, Kim Phung, K'Thua, Hong Nhung (HCMC), Thu Xuan (Than KSVN), Tu Anh, Bien Thi Hang (Hanoi) or Hai Yen (Phong Phu Ha Nam ) were all present.

Among them, Tran Thi Thuy Trang has just retired from the Vietnamese 11-a-side women's football team for more than a year. Last season, she played for Ho Chi Minh City on both natural grass and futsal. Thuy Trang was the top scorer at the 2024 National Futsal Championship. In her career, she won 3 SEA Games gold medals in 11-a-side and 2 SEA Games silver medals in futsal.

Few people know that the midfielder born in 1988 was originally a futsal player when he first started his football career. In 2014, Thuy Trang switched to playing on the 11-a-side field. Whenever she has a suitable schedule, she is still present in the Ho Chi Minh City futsal team. Regardless of the field, the player from Quang Nam still proves her class with her technique and physical foundation that are hard to match.

According to the plan, the Vietnamese women's futsal team will gather and start training from October 17 in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the immediate goal of the Southeast Asian women's futsal tournament, which will start in Thailand from November 16 to November 21.

Sharing about the team's goals, head coach Dinh Hoang said: " The whole team is aiming to prepare for the AFF Cup and the longer-term plan is to prepare for the Asian qualifiers in January 2025. The coaching staff is trying to perfect the team's overall playing style, develop and improve the technical and tactical skills of each athlete, improve the team's competitive mentality as well as increase the intensity and tempo of the game. In the upcoming Southeast Asian tournament, we aim to achieve the highest ranking and compete for a place in the Asian finals ."
