In order to overcome the shortage of blood for emergency and treatment, from August 12 to 15, the Voluntary Blood Donation Club of universities in the city coordinated with the Center for Hematology and Blood Transfusion (Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital) to organize a voluntary blood donation program.
The program attracted hundreds of cadres, lecturers, students and local people to participate. With the message "Every drop of blood given, a life remains", the Blood Donation Festival "Pink Drops, White Blouse" organized by the Youth Union - Student Association and the Blood Donation Club of Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy mobilized and received 489 units of blood.
The “Pink Drops, White Blouse” program is implemented once a quarter, each time collecting 500 - 700 units of blood, a total of about 2,200 - 2,500 units per year. At the fixed blood donation point of Vietnam Maritime University, nearly 100 units of blood were received. Participants received free health check-ups, blood tests, consultations, blood donation certificates, and gifts and snacks on the spot.
The received blood is distributed to local hospitals for emergency and treatment purposes.
The fixed blood donation point at Vietnam Maritime University, operating since 2021 on the 1st floor of Building C2, opens every Thursday and is held twice a month. The blood donation point not only attracts staff, lecturers, students, and volunteers but also a large number of city residents, volunteer hearts with the spirit of "mutual love and support".
