Music Story: “Proud of my journalism career”

“Proud of My Journalism” is one of the few good songs written about journalism. The work was composed by musician - Meritorious Artist Dinh Tham in 2020, on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

Sharing about the fate of the song's birth, the author confided: "I and journalist Thuan Huu (former President of the Vietnam Journalists Association , former Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper) have a very close relationship. Every time there is a new poem, Thuan Huu sends it to me to see. That time, he sent me the poem "My Journalism". I read it and was very impressed, so I immediately thought of putting this song to music, first to give to my brother, then to give to all the brothers working in the journalism industry".

The song was completed in just one night with a two-part structure: The opening part is a sincere, intimate account of the hardships and difficulties of journalism; the second part brings joyful emotions with the pride and gratitude that the author has for the Party and the people.

“I am proud of my journalism career/ Oh, journalism is full of hardships and difficulties/ Long days and nights, pouring my heart out on words/ Always feeling indebted to time/ I am proud of my colleagues and brothers/ The life of a reporter from the horizon to the end of the sea/ I feel sorry for my teammates who work tirelessly every night/ So that tomorrow the newspaper will reach the hands of the people...” . With the main melody of passionate, lyrical music mixed with a bit of spontaneous explosion at the end of the song, “Proud of My Journalism Career” deepens the pride and confidence of journalists in their newspaper, in the journalism career they have chosen.

The song ends with the lyrics: "The newspaper page is filled with the Party's love for the people" - which is also the main message that musician Dinh Tham wants to send to the audience.

“Fortunately, the song quickly spread, fueling enthusiasm and passion for journalists,” the song's creator happily shared.

Musician - Meritorious Artist Dinh Tham was born in 1958 in Quang Ngai. He is known for his compositions such as " Da Nang Tinh Nguoi", "Huyen Dieu Song Han", "Chi Con Bien Thoi", "Dem Xa Lang"... He is a member of the Vietnam Musicians Association, former Director of Trung Vuong Theater (Da Nang city). Currently, he is living and composing in Da Nang city.
