The General Secretary stated: The 100-year history of Vietnam's revolutionary press is a vivid testament to the great role of writers in the struggle for national independence, building and defending the Fatherland. The press is the main force in promoting the image of the country and Vietnamese people to the world, demonstrating Vietnam's solidarity and responsibility towards friends, progressive forces and the development of the world.
The press is a means to spread national cultural values, arouse patriotism, the desire for development and affirm the Vietnamese cultural identity in the integration era. As a cultural product, the press evokes the beauty of life, discovers and honors examples of good people, good deeds, creative models, effective ways of doing things, and multiplies positive values in society...
Through humanistic works, the press has contributed to shaping public thinking, promoting a beautiful lifestyle, spreading the spirit of responsibility and the desire to contribute, and building the culture of Vietnamese people to meet the requirements of sustainable development of the country.

According to General Secretary To Lam, in the new context, the country's new development also poses new requirements for revolutionary journalism, requiring high determination and great aspiration to build a strong and prosperous country.
In that context, the Vietnamese revolutionary press needs to promote its pioneering role on the ideological and cultural front; be an ideological pillar, a shock force in creating trust and consensus in society, making an important contribution to multiplying humanistic and progressive values, strongly spreading the spirit of innovation and creativity, inspiring learning, working and contributing.
The press must constantly innovate itself to develop in line with the times and the development of the country, truly becoming a professional, humane, modern press, serving the cause of the Party, State and people on the journey of construction and development.

To meet that requirement, the General Secretary requested that press agencies and journalists need to be deeply aware of their particularly noble political and social responsibilities to the Party, the State and the people. The press is the voice of the Party, the State, and socio-political organizations; it is a trusted forum for the people, a bridge connecting "the Party's will and the people's hearts".
The press needs to perform well its task of bringing the Party and State's policies and guidelines to the people; creating an environment for people to participate in press activities, reflecting the people's legitimate aspirations to the Party and State; ensuring the ideological, combative and humane nature of the press; mobilizing the people's strength to participate in building an increasingly clean and strong Party and political system.

Revolutionary press must be pioneering, creative, courageous in fighting against evil, promoting the new, becoming a flag leading innovation, inspiring dedication. The press is also an important force in reviving culture, spreading humanistic values, and promoting the image of Vietnam. In the digital age, it is necessary to make breakthroughs in thinking, master technology, and increase presence on social networks. At the same time, it is necessary to innovate management, perfect institutions, build a modern and effective press environment, and develop key press agencies with leadership.
