500 billion VND bridge to 'rescue' traffic in southern Ho Chi Minh City is about to open to traffic

After 1 year of construction, Rach Dia bridge on Le Van Luong street (connecting Nha Be district and District 7) has completed all spans and is expected to open to traffic in December this year.

Rach Dia Bridge started construction in July 2023, replacing the iron bridge on Le Van Luong Street and is rapidly approaching its completion date. According to the plan, the bridge will be officially completed and opened to traffic at the end of December 2024 with the expectation of "rescuing" traffic congestion in the South of Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Vu Van Phu, construction supervision consultant of Rach Dia bridge project, said: "The main items of Rach Dia bridge project have been completed, the construction unit is urgently completing the final auxiliary items to complete the work volume at the construction site by the end of November before organizing the traffic opening in December. The bridge construction project has achieved early progress thanks to the site clearance work going very smoothly".

The Rach Dia Bridge project is about 233 m long and 14 - 27 m wide. The project is implemented with the city budget with a total investment of more than 512 billion VND. Of which, the cost of compensation for site clearance and relocation of technical infrastructure is 290 billion VND.

Mr. Tran Xuan Canh, 57 years old (in Tan Phong ward, District 7) shared: "Back then, we had to go back and forth on a narrow iron bridge, which was both congested and dangerous. Now, with this new, spacious bridge, traffic jams will be less. In addition, at both ends of this bridge, there are stairs leading up for pedestrians, which is very convenient. I am very happy and looking forward to the bridge being put into use."

Rach Dia Bridge has closed the spans, the construction unit is installing the bridge railings and lighting system for the bridge to be handed over in November this year.

Once completed, Rach Dia Bridge connecting Le Van Luong Street with Nguyen Van Linh Avenue is expected to "rescue" traffic congestion in the South of Ho Chi Minh City.

The atmosphere is urgent at the Rach Dia bridge construction site, workers are completing the remaining items of the bridge to meet the schedule for opening to traffic at the end of this year.

The final items of the bridge are being urgently constructed. According to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the bridge is expected to open to traffic on December 28, 2024.

At the construction site, workers have begun to renovate the bridge's sidewalk to keep up with the schedule.
