Early Bitcoin wallets are considered the "holy grail" because their growth has been hundreds of thousands of times. |
According to Coindesk , this is the largest transaction ever of Bitcoins mined during the early stages, also known as the "Satoshi era", because the founder of Bitcoin was still active on the network at that time.
Two Bitcoin wallets that had been dormant for more than 14 years suddenly transferred 10,000 BTC each on the morning of July 4. According to a CoinDesk report, the two addresses first received Bitcoin on April 3, 2011. At the time, Bitcoin was worth just 78 cents.
The current value of these Bitcoins has reached more than 1.1 billion USD per wallet. The growth rate is more than 139,000 times compared to the original price.
The original source of these Bitcoins was the wallet “1HqXB…gDwcK”. This wallet sent 23,377.83 BTC to 3 different wallets in 2011.
Two of them, “12tLs…xj2me” and “1KbrS…AWJYm,” held the majority of the funds until this week. The third wallet, which received 3,377 BTC, spent it all in 2011.
Late on July 4, on-chain analytics firm Arkham detected six other wallets transferring more than 10,000 Bitcoins in a row. The total value of these transactions amounts to more than $8.6 billion at current prices.
Arkham also claims that all of these wallets appear to belong to the same entity. However, no individual or company has publicly claimed ownership of these wallets.
The Bitcoins were transferred to new wallets using a modern address format with lower fees. Neither of the new wallets has made any further transfers. The identity of the wallet owners remains unknown.
All of these Bitcoins are among the rarest. They were mined or traded during the “Satoshi era” from 2009-2011.
Wallets from this period are considered the “holy grail” of the cryptocurrency world . They are moved rarely and are often closely watched by traders. Any large sell-offs can be interpreted as early believers or miners changing their minds about the market.
This transaction marks the largest Bitcoin transfer since the Satoshi era. It has attracted special attention from the global crypto community.
