Opening of the play “Mission Accomplished”: praising General Vo Nguyen Giap and the Vietnam People's Army

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of November 10, Hai Phong Drama Troupe opened the play "Mission Accomplished", a December 2024 digital television program, scheduled to premiere on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024).

Head of Hai Phong Drama Troupe Tran Trung Hieu informed about the play.

The play was performed by the team of Author Xuan Duc, Director Meritorious Artist Bui Nhu Lai, Painter Ngo Thang, Musician The Toan, Choreographer Le Phuong, in charge of the program, Head of the Hai Phong Drama Troupe Tran Trung Hieu, through the performance of the collective of artists, actors of the Hai Phong Drama Troupe and a number of artists from art troupes in and outside the city.

The script is a story praising the hero Vo Nguyen Giap, the first commander of the “Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army” (the predecessor of the Vietnam People’s Army). He was talented in both military and military command. When facing any difficulty or challenge, the General always took the motto of action as completing the mission, fulfilling the responsibility assigned by the Party and Uncle Ho, contributing to the cause of national liberation and unification.

Meritorious Artist Bui Nhu Lai plays the role of Director of the play.

The script is divided into two parts, spanning the length of history at important and decisive moments, from the Dien Bien Phu campaign to the preparation of both position and strength for our army and people in the resistance war against the US, from the preparation stage in the early days of the resistance war to the general offensive in the spring of 1975.

With the historical documentary genre, recreating the legendary General Vo Nguyen Giap in the massive length of the two resistance wars, the author chose typical historical moments, demonstrating the genius qualities of Vo Nguyen Giap in historical decisions related to the success or failure of the entire resistance war, to the fate of the nation. These decisions clearly demonstrate the role of the General in history, closely linked to the strength of the entire people.

Meritorious Artist Trinh Mai Nguyen, Head of the Contemporary Drama Troupe of the Vietnam Drama Theater, who has played the role of General Vo Nguyen Giap many times, will continue to play the role of General Vo Nguyen Giap in this play.

Immediately after the Opening Ceremony, the production team will begin practicing to ensure progress is reported to the City Arts Council before officially presenting to the audience on the occasion of the Anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam People's Army.
