The Vietnamese women's volleyball team will participate in Shanghai Future Star 2025 from July 13 to 19 in Shanghai (China). According to the draw results, they are in Group A with host U21 China, U21 France and U21 Bauru (Brazil).
This is the tournament where the Vietnamese women's volleyball team did not bring their strongest squad. Stars such as Thanh Thuy, Bich Tuyen, Lam Oanh, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Le Thanh Thuy,... were given a rest after working hard at VTV Cup.
Instead, the opportunity was given to the reserve group such as Kim Thoa, Pham Thi Hien, Nguyen Thi Phuong and some young athletes. Almost only middle blocker Bich Thuy and main blocker Nguyen Thi Uyen are the first team's hitters participating in Shanghai Future Star 2025.
Leading the team in this tournament is not coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet but Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa and two assistants Karl Lim and Nguyen Ngoc Dung.
Although only having a reserve squad, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team was still at a higher level than the French U21 team in the opening match on July 13.
The European team has a team of tall players but lacks much experience in the game. Thanks to that, Coach Ngoc Hoa's team won 3-0 with the scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-11.
The second match of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team at Shanghai Future Star 2025 will take place at 6:00 p.m. on July 14, against U21 China.
Shanghai Future Star 2025 takes place in Shanghai (China) from July 13 to 19. Group A includes U21 China, Vietnam, U21 France and U21 Bauru (Brazil).
Group B includes Shanghai U21, Slovenian youth team, Netherlands youth team and Canadian youth team. This tournament only broadcasts matches with the host team, so Vietnamese fans will have difficulty watching the athletes compete on television.
