According to AppleInsider , since its release on June 27, F1 The Movie - a blockbuster about the racing world co-produced by Apple - has surpassed the $200 million mark in box office revenue. The film's revenue is expected to soon surpass the $300 million mark by mid-July, equal to its production budget and will stay in theater for a few more weeks.
The film itself is estimated to have cost more than $200 million to produce, with distribution costs for its global release exceeding $50 million . F1, co-produced with Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, is expected to be Apple's first original film to make a significant profit.
“This has proven that Apple can make theatrical films. With F1, they are looking for something very commercial,” an unnamed studio representative told the Financial Times.
After its theatrical release, Apple plans to make F1 The Movie available on premium video- on-demand services to generate additional revenue. The company will then release the film on Apple TV+ in late 2025.
F1 The Movie is a film directed by Joseph Kosinski, who was successful with the film Top Gun: Maverick . The project has the participation of veteran filmmaker Jerry Bruckheimer and famous F1 racer Lewis Hamilton.
In the film, Brad Pitt plays a veteran racer who returns to the track after many years of absence. Notably, the film was filmed live at actual F1 races, to increase the authenticity of the action scenes.
The F1 The Movie star couldn't hide his excitement as he described it as "the most vivid racing movie ever made".
