On June 11, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province announced the Green Tourism Standards Set, aiming to orient the development of the tourism industry according to the green growth model, associated with environmental protection and improving service quality.
Khanh Hoa province's green tourism standards include two standards for two groups of subjects: tourist accommodation establishments and tourist attractions.
Of which, accommodation establishments have 102 criteria and tourist attractions have 100 criteria. Units must meet criteria such as greenhouse gas emissions, green action criteria, sustainable development management team, environment, society, customers and employees, conservation of natural and cultural resources, etc.
According to the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, the widespread application and dissemination of the Green Tourism Standards of Khanh Hoa province is expected to create a wave of awareness change throughout the industry, increasing quality and sustainability.
Mr. Dinh Van Thieu - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee - said that the Green Tourism Standards of Khanh Hoa province is an important milestone in the process of developing tourism in a sustainable, environmentally friendly and community-harmonious direction.
"This is the result of the cooperative efforts between local authorities, the business community, and experts and is a clear demonstration of the determination to transform the tourism growth model in line with global trends," said Mr. Thieu.
Mr. Thieu also said that the Green Tourism Standards are designed as a tool to support businesses in self-reviewing, evaluating and adjusting their operations towards environmental friendliness, resource saving and cost optimization.
To help units and businesses implement green tourism standards, Khanh Hoa province also developed a handbook for implementing green tourism and software for managing and evaluating green tourism standards.
