Flow is the latest animated film by Gints Zilbalodis - a Latvian director. Right from the trailer, the film has conquered many audiences through poetic, beautiful, lively and humorous natural footage.

The film won the prestigious Golden Globe Award in 2025 for Best Animated Feature and was selected to screen in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

The main character in "Lac troi".

Lac Troi is also a strong contender for the Oscars alongside works from famous studios with sky-high costs such as Inside Out 2 (Pixar) and The Wild Robot (Dreamworks).

Lac Troi is a film project.   The second independent animation by director Gints Zilbalodis, born in 1994. The film is set in a post-apocalyptic world without humans. Seeing his house being swept away by a flood, a timid gray cat, afraid of water, must embark on an adventure at sea with other animals to survive together. The story of the cat's adventure and other animals in Lac Troi is also a life lesson for humans.

This is a rare independent film nominated for prestigious animation awards, and is also a work made with a record low budget compared to previous animated films nominated for Oscars ($3.6 million). The film was made in a modest office, with a small crew, and edited with free, open source graphics software.

The film was made on a low budget (nearly 90 billion VND) but has outstanding visuals that are not inferior to Hollywood's blockbuster animated films with production costs of thousands of billions.

However, with his previous skillful storytelling ability using 2D, 3D hand-drawn techniques and CG animation (computer-generated animation technology) guaranteed in previous films, Gints Zilbalodis continues to conquer audiences with gentle, enchanting footage of animals and nature. He also explores and composes melodious melodies throughout the film.

Gints Zilbalodis believes that the fact that Lac Troi has won many prestigious film awards is a way for him to inspire potential animators to go beyond their own limits, just like the spirit of this film.

"Lac Troi" officially opens in theaters from March 7 and has special screenings on March 1 and 2, 2025.
