Dawn on Long Dien salt fields

Việt NamViệt Nam18/10/2023

Along the pristine Long Hai beach of Ba Ria - Vung Tau , follow provincial road 44A to Long Dien district and you will see salt fields stretching to the horizon. On this side, people are raking the salt lines floating on the water surface, over there, rows of wheelbarrows are carrying salt, piled up in white piles in a corner... under the early morning sunlight.

Passionate about capturing beautiful moments of workers, freelance photographer Nguyen Khanh Vu Khoa (HCMC) visited Long Dien salt field on a day in March 2023 to see a full working day of salt workers.

Let's admire the beauty of Long Dien salt workers' labor through the perspective of Nguyen Khanh Vu Khoa , with the work Dawn on Long Dien salt fields, submitted to the Happy Vietnam Photo and Video contest, organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Information and Communications .

The salt industry sounds simple, but in reality it is extremely difficult. When the salt harvest is good, the price drops, when the price is good, the harvest drops, and salt farmers are stuck with the job that people jokingly call “work for a day, eat for a year”. The salt seeps into the skin and into the faded clothes. Under the hot sun, the workers’ shirts are always soaked with sweat.

Only by coming, seeing with your own eyes and hearing with your own ears can you somewhat feel the hardships of the salt industry, appreciate the salty, refined salt grains of Long Dien sea and appreciate even more the salt workers who work all year round on the mirror-like flat salt fields.

The photo contest on the website Vietnam.vn is open to all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and over, aiming to honor individuals and groups with positive information products, making practical contributions to the propaganda and promotion of beautiful images of Vietnam to the world . At the same time, it helps people in the country, compatriots abroad and international friends access authentic images of the country, Vietnamese people, Vietnam's achievements in ensuring human rights, towards a happy Vietnam through the authentic, vivid and objective perspectives of professional and non-professional authors in the country and international friends.
