Screenwriter Kim - ToTo Chan reunites with director Phuong Dien in new TV series

After the success of 'Mother Straw' (Golden Kite Award for TV series, 2023), director - Meritorious Artist Nguyen Phuong Dien reunites with the screenwriter group Kim - ToTo Chan in 'Mother Sea', which will air at 9:00 p.m. every Monday to Friday on VTV1 from March 17.

Mother of the Sea brings together an impressive cast: People's Artist Viet Anh, Meritorious Artist Truong Minh Quoc Thai, Meritorious Artist Kim Tuyen, artists Thanh Hien, Huong Giang, Cao Minh Dat, Hieu Hien, Cao Thai Ha, Thanh Thuc, Truc May, Lily Chen, Quang Thai... The film marks the expansion of the Vietnam Television Film Center (VFC) into the southern region, with the setting being the lives of fishermen filmed from Phuoc Hai (Vung Tau) to Ninh Thuan and then Cu Chi (HCMC).

Director Nguyen Phuong Dien said that in order to realistically portray the setting of the coastal village, he and the film crew painstakingly rebuilt a small coastal village, and those houses would later burn down and be submerged in the storm. "But Mother Sea does not focus on the anger of natural disasters, but depicts human life and human love after the storm. From Mother Sea , viewers will see that love can heal pain; forgiveness helps people find peace and that no storm is stronger than human strength," the director shared.

He also added that many TV series recently revolved around sensational stories about adultery or fighting over property, so he wanted to add a little "spice" by choosing a healing theme that the story of Mother of the Sea by the two screenwriters Kim - ToTo Chan conveyed. This is also the famous screenwriting duo with the movies: Mother's Happiness , Lotto , Mother-in-law and most recently Sister-in-law .
