Thinking the cancer on her nose was a pimple, Michelle Davis tried to squeeze it out but it felt hard and had no core.

Thinking it was a harmless pimple, she tried to squeeze it out. Surprisingly, it was very hard and had no pus in it. At that time, the woman did not think much of it.

However, the pimple kept bleeding and started to hurt uncomfortably. The pain became more and more intense, so Ms. Davis went to the doctor to get checked out.

The biopsy results shocked the woman. It wasn’t a pimple, but a cancerous tumor. The cancer she had was basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer.

Doctors required surgery to remove the cancerous tumor. The surgery left her with a scar on her right nose. Fortunately, plastic surgery later stretched the skin from the remaining part of her nose to cover the scar.

Although she was fortunate to be cured of cancer, because she had previously suffered from the disease, Ms. Davis will face the risk of cancer recurrence. Therefore, she must regularly go for regular health check-ups. If the cancer recurs, the doctor will detect it early and intervene promptly.

Basal cell carcinoma is a cancer that develops from basal cells. Basal cells are the cells that create new skin cells when old cells die. A good way to reduce your risk of developing this type of cancer is to limit your exposure to the sun.

A common symptom of basal cell carcinoma is the formation of scaly patches on areas of skin that are frequently exposed to the sun, such as the face and neck. These scaly patches are flat, have raised edges, and look like scars but do not have clear borders, according to the Daily Mail .
