Lam Dong Hospital returns wrong X-ray results, patient suffers wrongful surgery

On February 21, a representative of Lam Dong General Hospital confirmed that the hospital had mistakenly returned X-ray results to Mr. NHH (residing in Lam Ha district, Lam Dong province). In the coming time, hospital leaders and the doctors involved will visit Mr. H. and his family to apologize.

Previously, on February 20, Mr. NHH went to Lam Dong General Hospital for examination as advised by a doctor in Lam Ha district.

Here, the doctors asked the patient to have an X-ray. After receiving the results, the doctors informed Mr. H. that there was a tube in his abdomen and advised him to do laparoscopic surgery to remove the tube.

When he received the X-ray results, Mr. H. was very surprised and said that he had had kidney surgery before and had annual check-ups, so it was unlikely that a tube would suddenly appear in his body. However, after receiving advice from the doctor, he and his wife agreed to have laparoscopic surgery to remove the foreign object, a plastic tube, from his abdomen.

According to Lam Dong General Hospital, during the surgery, it was discovered that there was no tube in Mr. H's abdomen. The doctor had Mr. H retake an X-ray and discovered that the imaging department had mistakenly given Mr. H. the results of another patient.

Mr. Le Van Tien - Director of Lam Dong General Hospital - said that after the incident was discovered, the hospital held a meeting with relevant departments to clarify the mistakes and draw lessons from the individuals involved in the incident.

In addition, the hospital contacted Mr. H's family to apologize, inquire about his health, and commit to refunding hospital fees and providing health care for the patient who was mistakenly operated on.
