The child was treated with incubator nutrition, invasive mechanical ventilation and Surfactant injection to support the lungs. However, the condition did not improve, the child was transferred to high-frequency vibration ventilation to maintain stable blood oxygen. At the same time, combined antibiotic treatment, closure of the ductus arteriosus with drugs, adjustment of blood clotting disorders and complete intravenous nutrition. After 3 days of mechanical ventilation without improvement, the doctors in the department consulted to inject Surfactant for the second time. After 2 weeks of active treatment, the child's lung condition improved and the endotracheal tube was removed, switched to nasal prong ventilation. The child continued to receive intravenous nutrition with full nutrition and began to try breast milk. After 40 days, the child was incubated with Kangaroo with the mother, practiced breastfeeding and practiced physical therapy for sucking and swallowing reflexes. On day 43, the baby breastfed well, reached a weight of 1.5 kg, was in stable health and was discharged from the hospital.
According to Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy, over the past 5 years, the Department of Pediatrics, Khanh Hoa General Hospital has nurtured and treated many premature and low-weight newborns weighing 1,000 grams or more.
