VTC NewsVTC News24/10/2024

With 1 point on the opening day, U17 Vietnam temporarily ranked 2nd in Group I, where Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar and Yemen are also present. According to the tournament format, 43 teams are divided into 3 groups of 5 teams and 7 groups of 4 teams. The 10 group winners and 5 best second-placed teams will advance.

Up to this point, U17 Vietnam has been at a disadvantage when they drew the first match against a weaker opponent. Thus, coach Cristiano Roland and his team must win the second match. With only 4 teams in the group, the second place team in Group A will not be deducted points when comparing their achievements with the other second place teams.

Basically, qualifying teams need about 7 or 6 points and a good goal difference (from +3 to +5 or more) to reach the final round. Therefore, victory is the goal that U17 Vietnam is aiming for.

It’s a pity that the goal didn’t come. My players played fast, trying to control the game. The opponent didn’t let us play, so we created many chances but unfortunately couldn’t score. My players are young, every match is a lesson for the players to grow up.

Today I rate the match well, congratulate the whole team, but in the future the players need to have even better performances, " head coach Cristiano Roland shared in the press conference after the match against Kyrgyzstan.

Vietnam U17 entered the match confidently in handling the ball. However, the home team was stuck in front of the opponent's tight defense. Coach Roland's students played much better in the second half but failed to take advantage of the opportunity.

Vietnam U17 was also lucky not to concede a goal in this match. The home team's defense still had many careless situations, creating opportunities for Kyrgyzstan U17.

The match between U17 Vietnam and Myanmar takes place at 19:00 on October 25.
