A few days ago, Tien Linh was awarded the title of V-League Top Scorer along with two players Alan ( Hanoi Police Club) and Lucao (Hai Phong Club). All three players scored 14 goals this season.

However, this afternoon (June 27), the organizers unexpectedly announced that Tien Linh would be deducted from one goal. That goal was scored in the match against Binh Duong and Hai Phong clubs. Initially, the goal was counted for the striker of the Vietnamese team, but after reviewing the video, the organizers counted it as an own goal from a clearance by defender Bui Tien Dung (Hai Phong).
With a goal deducted, Tien Linh only has 13 goals this season and sadly watched Alan and Lucao share the title of Top Scorer.
This means that Tien Linh cannot become the first Vietnamese player to win the AFF Cup, National Cup and V-League Golden Boot. He also missed the opportunity to become the first domestic player to win the V-League Golden Boot since 2017 after his teacher Nguyen Anh Duc (17 goals).
Although the Binh Duong striker still won the domestic top scorer award, that could not ease the sadness in Tien Linh’s heart. Sharing on his personal page, this player wrote: “Really sad”. Below the post, many fans spoke up to comfort Tien Linh. They also hope that he will come back stronger next season.
