Join hands to protect borders and landmarks
In Ha Tien ward, many Party cells along the border regularly include propaganda and mobilization of people to protect the border and border markers in their regular activities. Most recently, at the August 2025 meeting, Secretary of the Xa Xia Ward Party Cell Vu Van Giau disseminated to all Party members the main contents of legal documents related to border work, including the Law on National Borders, the Law on Vietnam Border Guard and the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on management and protection of territorial sovereignty .

Thanks to concrete actions, linked to daily life, the awareness of cadres, party members and the masses has been significantly raised. Each party member not only grasps the policy but also becomes an active propagandist in the family, with relatives and the community. "In each meeting of the neighborhood party cell, we discuss the socio -economic development of the neighborhood; at the same time, we remind each other to always protect the sovereignty of the country's borders and territories as a daily task, associated with the responsibility of a party member", said Mr. Vu Van Giau.
Currently, in Ha Tien ward, there are about 7 self-managed people's groups, nearly 20 households and hundreds of people who have voluntarily registered to participate in self-managing the border and border markers. For many years, regardless of late nights or hot sunny days, Mr. Nguyen Van Trieu, residing in Thach Dong quarter, regularly joins the militia and self-defense forces to patrol the border. For him, contributing to protecting national markers and maintaining security and order in the border area is both a sacred responsibility and a source of pride. Not only that, Mr. Trieu actively mobilizes and propagates people in the border area to take care of family economic development, obey the law and raise awareness in protecting the border and border markers. “When the country is peaceful, people’s lives will be stable. Aware of this, my family and many households along the Ha Tien border proactively report when they discover strangers crossing the border abnormally, and actively cooperate with the border guards in patrolling to maintain security and order in the area,” said Mr. Trieu.
From national boundaries to integration bridges
In the context of integration, the border also opens up opportunities for trade and development cooperation with neighboring countries. Ha Tien has taken advantage of this to develop border gate economy, tourism and trade. Trading activities at border gate areas are transparently managed, both generating revenue and strengthening friendship with neighboring Cambodia.
Thanks to policies supporting the development of border economic zones, the trade of goods between Ha Tien and the provinces of neighboring Cambodia is increasingly vibrant, creating a stable source of income for the people. Many households that previously only lived on small-scale farming and fishing have now boldly opened shops and provided services to border residents. Mr. Huynh Cong Bang, a resident of Thach Dong quarter, shared: “Over the past 5 years, thanks to the attention and support of the relevant authorities, my family's cross-border trade has been smooth and trade has been easier than before. Not only my family, but people in the border area also have more opportunities to do business, increase their income, and their lives are increasingly prosperous.”
However, along with the opportunities of integration, the Ha Tien border area also faces many challenges. Smuggling, trade fraud, transportation of prohibited goods, and even drug crimes always find ways to infiltrate and take advantage of the border area to operate. Therefore, raising awareness and responsibility of border residents in maintaining security, order, and protecting the border and border markers is becoming more important. Senior Lieutenant Le Vinh Phuc - Head of the Mass Mobilization Team, Ha Tien International Border Guard Station said: "Thanks to regular propaganda, people in the border area have raised their awareness and proactively informed the authorities about suspicious subjects and behaviors. Many households actively participate in self-management groups for border and border markers, both protecting their living areas and becoming more attached to the task of maintaining national security".
The image of border guards working and living together with people has contributed to strengthening the military-civilian relationship, creating a solid strength in protecting the border. From that bond, the people's security posture has been consolidated, creating a foundation for the Ha Tien border area to develop stably, promoting economic development, trade and commerce with neighboring Cambodia.
