Zubimendi, Norgaard set to debut for Arsenal. |
Arsenal are hurriedly recruiting their new personnel and will announce the two contracts of Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard next week, in time to join the team in Spain to prepare for the pre-season training trip.
So far, the only new signing Arsenal has completed is goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. The Spaniard has had his £5m release clause activated by Arsenal to act as a back-up to David Raya.
Meanwhile, the £51m signing of Zubimendi from Real Sociedad is almost complete, pending an announcement. Brentford midfielder Norgaard has also contained a medical and will join the Emirates for a fee of around £10m plus add-ons. Barring any complications, both new signings will fly with the squad to Spain for training before embarking on a tour of Singapore and Hong Kong from July 19.
On the other hand, Arsenal terminated the contract of defender Takehiro Tomiyasu early due to persistent injury. The Japanese star played just 6 minutes last season and will be out for most of 2025 due to a knee injury.
Up front, Viktor Gyokeres is determined to join Arsenal this summer despite Sporting Lisbon's refusal to let him go. The Swedish striker has rejected at least two offers, including Juventus, because he only wants to play for Arsenal. However, the Gunners are still considering Benjamin Sesko (RB Leipzig) as a backup option, leaving Gyokeres behind if Arteta closes in on Sesko first.
In other targets, Crystal Palace announced that they will only let Eberechi Eze leave if they receive the full 68 million pounds, the contract termination clause, and will not negotiate. Arsenal are still the most promising candidates for this deal.
In addition, the Emirates Stadium club contacted Chelsea to inquire about buying Noni Madueke, a name that has been in the sights of coach Arteta since the end of last season.
