A 53-year-old man was trapped at the top of Snowmass Mountain, USA, after being injured while glissading. In the absence of cell phone signal, he used the satellite SOS feature on his iPhone to send an emergency message.
The message was forwarded to a relative, who immediately notified the authorities. A 17-member rescue team was deployed and reached the victim at an altitude of nearly 3,300 meters, more than 13 kilometers from the starting point.
The satellite SOS feature allows users to send emergency messages even without a cellular connection. This is one of the outstanding features integrated by Apple on new iPhone models to support rescue in emergency situations. Unfortunately, this life-saving feature is currently only available in select countries like the US, Canada, Australia, and is not yet available in Vietnam.
Many users in Vietnam expect Apple to soon expand this service to enhance safety in outdoor activities. Readers are invited to watch more videos : Iris scanning tool to verify human identity | VTV24
