The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that at 1:00 a.m. on August 17, the center of the tropical depression was at about 16.7 degrees north latitude and 112.3 degrees east longitude. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression was at level 6, equivalent to wind speeds of 39 - 49 km/h, gusting to level 8.

Currently, the tropical depression is moving northwest at a speed of about 10 km/h. It is forecasted that by 1:00 a.m. on August 18, the center of the tropical depression will be at about 19.1 degrees north latitude and 110.1 degrees east longitude, on the mainland east of Hainan Island, China.
Near the center of the tropical depression, strong winds of level 6 - 7, gusts of level 8 - 9. In the next 24 hours, the dangerous sea area due to the influence of the tropical depression is from 15.5 - 21.0 degrees north latitude and 109.0 - 113.5 degrees east longitude.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that due to the influence of a tropical depression, the western sea area of the northern East Sea (including the Hoang Sa special zone) will have thunderstorms and strong winds of level 6-7, gusting to level 8-9, waves 2.0-3.5 m high, and rough seas.
From the morning of August 18, the northern Gulf of Tonkin has experienced winds gradually increasing to level 6, gusting to level 8, waves 2-3 m high, and rough seas. Accordingly, vessels operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by storms, strong winds, and large waves.
Due to the influence of the tropical low pressure circulation and the southwest monsoon, today, the sea area from Khanh Hoa to Ho Chi Minh City; the central and southern East Sea (including Truong Sa special zone) will have strong winds of level 6, gusting to level 7 - 8. Rough seas, waves of 2 - 3.5 m. The sea area west of the northern East Sea (including Hoang Sa special zone) will have strong winds of level 6 - 7, gusting to level 8 - 9.
