Although the recall program was announced in the US, the Anker PowerCore 10000 backup charger line is also quite popular in Vietnam through online sales channels and hand-carried goods. Therefore, users need to pay special attention and immediately check the product they own.
Is your product affected?
Anker says only one model is affected this time around:
- Product Name: Anker PowerCore 10000
- Model Number: A1263 (printed on the bottom of the charger)
If your power bank has the model number listed above, Anker recommends that you stop using it immediately to ensure safety and take steps to get a free replacement. Anker has a simple return process that does not require you to send back the defective product:
First, take a clear photo of the A1263 power bank. The photo must clearly show information such as model number, serial number, customer name and date of photo taking.
Using a permanent marker, write 'recalled' on the body of the power bank before taking a photo. Then, visit Anker's official website to submit a replacement request with the photo. The company does not require a receipt of purchase.
Anker also recommends that users dispose of old products safely. Accordingly, never throw a defective power bank into the regular trash because of the risk of fire or explosion. Contact your local e-waste, hazardous waste, or old battery take-back program for proper disposal. Users will need to confirm safe disposal before receiving a new product.
