In the guest house, the restored photo of Mother's two martyr sons, Nguyen Van Sac (died in 1971) and Nguyen Van Than (died in 1972), is solemnly hung in the middle of the room as a sacred symbol. The photo was presented by the Hoa Binh Provincial Youth Union (before the merger) on the occasion of July 27, 2023, a meaningful gift under the program "Repaying gratitude - Remembering the source of water" launched by the Youth Union. Since then, the photo has always been present as a part of the soul of the house, both reminding of the sacrifices and nurturing the revolutionary tradition for generations of children.
The delegation of leaders and people of Tan Hoa ward visited and presented gifts to the family of Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Cho.
Mother Nguyen Thi Cho lives with the family of her fifth son, Nguyen Hung Ngát. At the age of 99, Mother sometimes remembers, sometimes forgets, her speech is slow but clear, her eyes shine with pride when looking at the picture of her two sons who died for the independence and unification of the country.
Right after the first week of the merged local government coming into operation, the delegation of Tan Hoa ward leaders visited and gave gifts to encourage Mother's family. Comrade Bui Thi Nham, Secretary of the ward Party Committee, shared with Mother about the changes of her hometown in the new period; at the same time, acknowledged the family's contributions in caring for and supporting Mother. He affirmed: "Caring for people with meritorious services and relatives of martyrs is a regular responsibility, not only on the occasion of the July 27 anniversary". He also requested organizations and unions to continue to closely follow and be more attached to the policy families in the area.
During the meeting, the most touching image was when Nguyen Hong Van, a student at Tan Hoa Primary School, tightly held her mother's thin hand. She emotionally said: "This is the first time I have met a Vietnamese Heroic Mother. I will tell you about her two children as well as the great sacrifices of many mothers for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland." Her mother's hand held hers tightly, as if she wanted to pass on warmth, faith, and will to today's generation.
On the occasion of July, Mother Nguyen Thi Cho's house welcomed many delegations to visit and present gifts. Comrade Bui Van Duan, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Tan Hoa Ward shared: "We sincerely thank Mother and her family for their great sacrifices for the country. Taking care of Mother is a sacred duty of the whole society". Small gifts, words of encouragement, or just being present in these special moments, are all deep feelings of today's generation sent to those who have contributed to the shape of the country.
Amidst the new rhythm of life in the post-merger homeland, Mother Nguyen Thi Cho’s house is still quiet, simple, and bright. There is family love, memories, the vivid history of the nation, and faith in the next generation following in the footsteps of their ancestors to build the country to become more and more prosperous and civilized.
