Al Hilal makes history

Before Al Hilal beat Manchester City 4-3 in the round of 16 of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, no Asian team had ever won against European teams in this tournament.

With the victory on the morning of July 1, Al Hilal made history by becoming the first Asian team to defeat a European team in the FIFA Club World Cup. Before that, Asian teams only occasionally created surprises by overcoming South American teams in the tournament.

Since 2013, European teams have won the tournament. However, the expanded version of the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025 is witnessing many surprises.

Al Hilal became the pride of Asian football when they defeated Man City, the candidate for the championship of the tournament. In the quarter-finals, the Saudi Arabian team will face Fluminense of Brazil.
