Google's AI NotebookLM tool once "caused a stir" in the Vietnamese online community with its Audio Overview feature that creates two-voice podcasts that read naturally and realistically. Currently, this tool has added a new feature, Video Overview.

Users simply provide the source, and NotebookLM will automatically create presentation slides with AI-generated visuals to illustrate key points, while inserting images, diagrams, quotes, and figures from the document.

Users can specify the topic to focus on, state learning objectives, describe the target audience, etc. You can ask general questions like "I know nothing about this topic; help me understand the diagrams in the lesson" or go into more detail like "I'm already an expert on X and my team is doing Y; focus on Z".

NotebookLM's Video Overview is initially rolling out to English-speaking users and will support additional languages in the future.

With this new update, NotebookLM now supports four output formats, including audio (Audio Overview), video (Video Overview), mind map (Mind Map), and report (Report). These four formats appear in four separate boxes in the Studio control panel for users to easily choose from.

NotebookLM also introduces Featured Notebooks, handbooks curated by respected authors, researchers, publishers, and nonprofits, ranging from in-depth scientific studies to practical travel guides and expert advice.

According to Google, Vietnam is in the top 10 countries using NotebookLM the most in the world , along with India, Japan, South Korea... This information is consistent with the findings in the World AI Index 2025 ranking of the Global Independent Market Research Network (WIN). Accordingly, Vietnam ranked 3rd in AI trust and 5th in AI acceptance, 17th in actual AI use.

According to Mr. Xavier Depouilly, General Director of Indochina Research Vietnam - the unit that conducted the survey, a large part of the urban population in Vietnam - especially the young - is proactively approaching new technology.

“The young generation of Vietnam is ready to embrace technology and that plays a big role in the country's rapid economic growth and digital transformation,” he said.

Indochina Research assesses that with a high level of trust and positive attitude, Vietnam has many advantages to break through in the global AI race.

Vietnam is the second largest source of smartphones in the US. A report by research firm Canalys shows a turning point in the smartphone supply chain in the US. India and Vietnam surpass China in terms of export shipments.
