If you are a fan of superhero movies, especially Marvel's blockbuster Avengers, you must have seen the unique Acura NSX Roadster appear in one of these movies. The Acura NSX Roadster was designed by the Japanese automaker specifically for The Avengers, which was said to be the highest-grossing film of 2012. The second-generation NSX Concept, introduced at the 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), served as the inspiration for the design of this model. In terms of chassis, it was based on the first-generation supercar.
Designed by Acura's Los Angeles studio, the car is said to be identical to the one seen in the film. Yes, that includes the "Stark 33" license plate, as it was owned by none other than Iron Man in the film. Before it goes on sale, however, the car will be on display at Monterey Car Week 2025, which is taking place in a few days. Those who want to see it in person will have to attend the event on August 15, and Acura has announced that it will begin accepting registrations for those interested in bidding on the car. But when exactly will the auction begin? It's expected to be next year, with the proceeds going to an undisclosed charity.
This one-of-a-kind Acura NSX Roadster isn't a brand new machine with just a few miles on it. In fact, it's based on a 1991 model that went through a lot of trouble before it was "tuned." That car had 252,000 miles on it when the restoration began, so it will be interesting to see how much the movie car sells for in 2026. As a reminder, the first generation Acura NSX debuted between 1990 and 2005, and Ayrton Senna worked with the engineers to ensure the car cornered like a champion. The second-generation NSX debuted in 2016 with an electrified V6 engine and was produced until 2022, with the final version being the Type S configuration.
Early models cost more than $70,000 in today's market, while the 2022 model costs more than $200,000, so one needs to be quite wealthy to afford it. Given its rarity and Marvel connection, it's likely that the custom-built Acura NSX supercar, along with its convertible nature, will fetch a very high price at auction next year.
