Born in the height of the August Revolution, educated and trained by the Party and Uncle Ho, and loved, protected and helped by the People, the People's Public Security force has continuously grown and matured in all aspects and has achieved many outstanding feats, writing golden pages of traditional history, worthy of being the "sacred sword" protecting the Party, the State, the Fatherland and the People.

Continuing the tradition

On August 19, 1945, the General Uprising won victory in Hanoi ; at the same time, with the destruction of the enemy's repressive agencies and the establishment of a revolutionary government, the first organizations of the People's Public Security were established: the North established the Secret Service, the Central established the Reconnaissance Service, and the South established the National Self-Defense Force. All organizations had the common task of suppressing counter-revolutionaries, maintaining security and order, protecting the Party, protecting the revolutionary government, and protecting the lives and property of the people.

Police forces increase training and drills to be ready to effectively handle situations.

Continuing the glorious tradition of 80 years of construction, fighting and growth, the Vinh Long Provincial Police force has always performed well in its advisory role to the Party Committee and the Government to effectively direct the implementation of the work of ensuring political security and social order and safety. Absolutely protect the safety of important targets and key projects; ensure the safety of political and social events, visits and work in the province by Party and State leaders.

The rate of investigation and discovery of criminal cases is higher year after year. Resolutely and effectively deploy solutions to curb and reduce crimes and law violations, proactively launch many high-point campaigns to attack and suppress all types of crimes. Together with the police nationwide, Vinh Long Provincial Police resolutely and proactively take the lead in implementing the Government's Project 06 on "Developing applications of population data, identification and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation in the period of 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030", contributing to the construction of e-Government, towards digital Government, digital society, digital citizens and digital economy.

From July 1, 2025, the new Vinh Long Provincial Police Department was officially established on the basis of merging the police departments of Vinh Long, Ben Tre and Tra Vinh provinces. At the same time, implementing the decisions of the Minister of Public Security, the Provincial Police Department announced the decision to arrange the head of the professional department of the Provincial Police Department and equivalent; the decision to establish commune-level police and arrange commune and ward police chiefs after implementing the arrangement of administrative units.

With the spirit of not interrupting work, not leaving any area or field vacant, the entire police force upholds the sense of responsibility with the motto of "a comprehensive province, a strong commune, and a strong base". Colonel Vo Cong Binh - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police Department said that the Provincial Police Department's Board of Directors has directed the police of units and localities to comprehensively and effectively implement all aspects of work, maintain political security, social order and safety, fight against crimes, social evils, drugs, ensure traffic safety and fire prevention and fighting.

Worthy of being the "sacred sword" of the Party

After more than 40 years of implementing the national renovation, the People's Public Security force has made strong progress, continuously growing in all aspects and achieving important achievements. The People's Public Security force proactively coordinates with the Party and the State to closely link the two strategic tasks of building and protecting the Fatherland. Combining security, national defense with economy, foreign affairs and proactively and actively expanding international cooperation relations.

Vinh Long Provincial Police pay attention to implementing social security work well, taking care of the lives of ethnic and religious people.

Strongly innovate all aspects of work, effectively implement many policies and strategies, flexibly apply professional measures, maintain political stability, avoid being passive, surprised, and prevent the formation of opposition political organizations in the country. Effectively handle complicated situations regarding security and order, avoid spreading and prolonging, and effectively fight against all types of crimes.

In the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, many officers and soldiers of the People's Public Security have not been afraid of difficulties, hardships, and sacrifices for independence, freedom, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, for national security, and for the peaceful and happy life of the people.

The Provincial Police advised the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to develop and implement many projects and plans to combat and prevent crime; investigate and clarify many major economic cases, destroy many criminal and drug gangs; prevent and control social evils.

In particular, implementing the Politburo's policy on streamlining the apparatus, the Provincial Police have promoted their pioneering and exemplary role in arranging and organizing the organization and staff to ensure objectivity, science and impartiality; focusing on directing the implementation of comprehensive digital transformation with specific solutions and roadmaps, focusing on transforming thinking and methods of security and order management on the basis of digital transformation, contributing effectively to the cause of local economic, cultural and social development.

Comrade Kim Ngoc Thai - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - emphasized: The task of protecting national security and maintaining social order and safety in the coming time continues to pose extremely heavy, difficult, and complicated requirements and tasks, requiring concentration and efforts of the entire Provincial Police Party Committee, ensuring that in any situation the police force must perform well the task of protecting the Party, the State, protecting the socialist regime, and firmly protecting security and order. Therefore, all police officers and soldiers must promote the tradition of solidarity, unity, proactiveness, and creativity. Build a truly clean, strong, disciplined, and elite police force. Forecasting the situation must be strategic, with the motto of "proactive security", "maintaining stability inside", "preventing early and from afar risks and factors that can cause instability".

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee especially emphasized the viewpoint of "taking the people as the root", "respecting the people, being close to the people, understanding the people, learning from the people and being responsible to the people. From there, building the image of a police officer who is close, friendly, listening to the people's opinions, being the trust and solid support of the people in times of danger. Resolutely fighting against manifestations of authoritarianism, bureaucracy, negativity, causing trouble for the people when solving work.

Practice fire fighting situations, ensuring absolute safety of people's lives and property.

Major General Nguyen Thanh Hai - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Provincial Police Department expressed the determination of the Provincial Police force to constantly train and strive, overcome all difficulties, unite as one, excellently complete assigned tasks, worthy of being the "sword" to protect the Party, State, Fatherland and People, contributing to building the country, building the homeland of Vinh Long increasingly rich and beautiful, for the peaceful and happy life of the People.

Looking back on the past 80 years, proud of the achievements, comrade Kim Ngoc Thai affirmed: The Party Committee, government and people of the province always believe that under the glorious flag of the Party and the unlimited strength from the people, the heroic tradition, the provincial police force will continue to excellently fulfill its tasks, building the province to be more and more civilized, rich, beautiful, friendly, secure and safe, together with the whole country entering a new era - the era of strong development of the nation.

Over 80 years of construction, fighting and growth, many collectives and individuals in the Vinh Long Provincial Police force have been awarded many noble awards and titles by the Party and the State. Of which, 26 collectives and 26 individuals were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces; 2 collectives of the Ben Tre (old) and Vinh Long (old) Provincial Police were awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal; thousands of collectives and individuals received medals, badges and certificates of merit.
