44 traffic jams, aviation and railways return to normal operation

The Ministry of Construction has just issued a quick report on the traffic situation as of the morning of August 26, with timely and drastic response plans for storm No. 5.

According to information from the Ministry of Construction , as of the morning of August 26, 2025, the Vietnam Road Administration recorded 44 traffic jams, of which Nghe An suffered the most damage with 18 jams, 12 flooded locations and 4 landslides. Relevant forces are strengthening maintenance, placing warning signs and assigning traffic controllers to avoid the risk of accidents.

In provinces and cities, the Department of Construction has directed transport companies and bus stations to proactively adjust itineraries, times and routes to avoid dangerous areas. Contract vehicles and tourist vehicles are not allowed to operate in areas with warnings of floods and landslides. At the same time, bus stations must also coordinate closely with local authorities to ensure that no vehicles depart from dangerous areas.

In addition, the Vietnam Maritime Administration continues to closely monitor the developments of storm No. 5. Telegrams, including Telegrams No. 4055 and 4076, have been sent to instruct units and the Department of Construction to be ready to respond. In the management areas of the port authorities, more than 500 vessels (including 201 seagoing vessels and 300 inland waterway vehicles) are being closely monitored. Relevant forces have counted and maintained regular contact with vessels to promptly handle emergency situations and prevent vessels from entering dangerous areas.

Faced with the complex developments of storm No. 5, relevant forces are not only proactively responding, but are also reviewing reserve supplies (steel cages, boulders, crushed stones, rescue equipment, etc.) to promptly transfer to high-risk areas. Close monitoring of storms, landslides, flash floods and flash floods is also being stepped up to minimize damage to people and property.

In the railway and aviation sectors, according to Official Dispatch No. 387/CD-DS dated August 23, 2025 of Vietnam Railways Corporation , Storm No. 5 disrupted traffic in some sections, especially in Quan Hanh - Vinh, Vinh - Yen Xuan and some other areas. Specifically, trees and electric poles fell on the railway, causing traffic to be blocked for some periods from 6:38 p.m. on August 25 to 4:55 a.m. on August 26, 2025.

The functional units have deployed to quickly fix the problem, ensuring safety for the railway lines. At the My Ly - Quan Hanh section, telecommunication cables were also knocked down on the railway and the units have handled it promptly. By 5:00 a.m. on August 26, 2025, the entire area affected by storm No. 5 had been restored, and passenger trains such as SE1, SE3, SE19... had resumed their journey after a temporary suspension.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has issued Official Dispatch No. 3723/CD-CHK on proactively responding to storm No. 5, requesting agencies and units in the aviation industry to strictly implement storm prevention measures. Airports have prepared plans to restore and protect structures and facilities, and closely monitor the storm's developments to adjust flight plans when necessary. As of the morning of August 26, Vinh, Dong Hoi and Tho Xuan airports have received aircraft again and are operating safely. Work to protect facilities and ensure safety for airport and airport infrastructure has also been carried out. Flight routes and trains have continued to operate normally.
