On the afternoon of August 28, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council approved a resolution on the investment policy for the project to complete the construction of the Go Cong intersection and the branch connecting Hanoi Highway to the Go Cong intersection on Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3.

The project starts at the intersection of Station 2 (on Hanoi Highway) and ends at Go Cong (the intersection of Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 and Nguyen Xien Street). The project passes through the following wards: Tang Nhon Phu, Long Binh, and Long Phuoc.

In terms of scale, the project will build a new section of the route (total length of about 5.9km) and a diverging phase intersection. Specifically, the route connecting Hanoi Highway with Go Cong intersection will be built, with a scale of 2 parallel roads on both sides with a total of 6 lanes (3 lanes on each side), divided into 3 sections.

Section 1 from Tram 2 intersection to Le Van Viet street and section 2 from Le Van Viet street to Go Cong bridge are 107m wide. Section 3 from Go Cong bridge to Go Cong intersection is 120m wide, and is suitable for the planned intersection area.

The Go Cong intersection will be designed as a 4-level crossroads, combined with a circular island. The intersection will have branches N1, N2, N3, N4 and an additional investment in an overpass unit on Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3 to complete the planning.

Overpasses will be built, including an overpass at the intersection with Le Van Viet Street and an overpass at the intersection with D1 Street; an overpass over Go Cong Canal and an overpass over Trau Trau Canal.

The project has a total capital of more than 12,440.9 billion VND, invested by the city budget. Implementation period is from 2025 to 2029.

Regarding the expected implementation schedule, after the City People's Council approves the investment policy, the site clearance and compensation work will be implemented from the fourth quarter of 2025 to the fourth quarter of 2026. The City will organize the selection of construction contractors and prepare to start construction in the third and fourth quarters of 2026. The project will start construction in the first quarter of 2027 and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2028.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, this particularly important project aims to connect Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3 and Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 2, improving the efficiency of exploiting Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3.

The project will relieve bottlenecks, meet traffic connection and transportation needs, and address the increasing traffic pressure in the area; contributing to urban beautification of the surrounding area.

Two component projects of the road connecting Hanoi Highway to Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3

The project to complete the Go Cong traffic intersection and the branch connecting Hanoi Highway to Go Cong traffic intersection on Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3 includes 2 component projects, invested by the City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.

Specifically, component project 1 covers compensation, support, and resettlement with a preliminary total investment of more than VND 7,111 billion. Component project 2 completes the investment in the Go Cong intersection and the branch connecting Hanoi Highway to the Go Cong intersection on Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3 with a preliminary total investment of more than VND 5,329 billion.
