In the afternoon of the same day, the patient was examined at La Gi Regional General Hospital with a diagnosis of functional dyspepsia, anorexia, and was given a prescription to buy on his own. At 11:30 p.m., the patient did not take the medicine, did not drink water, screamed, and ran away. The patient's family took the patient to La Gi Regional General Hospital, where he was diagnosed with grade 2b hand, foot, and mouth disease and transferred to a higher level. And at 4:00 a.m. on June 20, 2023, the patient died on the way to the hospital. The hospital diagnosed suspected grade 4 hand, foot, and mouth disease.
In the face of the above situation, La Gi Medical Center has implemented a number of measures such as providing chloramine B to households to clean household items; promoting mothers and caregivers to regularly wash their hands with soap, ensuring food hygiene and safety - eating cooked food and drinking boiled water. Instructing families to monitor the health of family members, especially children under 5 years old. If suspected symptoms of the disease are detected, people should immediately notify the health agency for timely treatment.
It is known that in the first 5 months of 2023, Binh Thuan recorded 33 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease. Specifically, Ham Thuan Bac had 9 cases, Phan Thiet had 8 cases, La Gi had 2 cases... Currently, hand, foot and mouth disease has appeared with the EV71 strain that causes severe illness and a high risk of death.
