After 40 years of construction and development, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted - Nam Nha Trang Ward has always maintained its leading position in the province's education sector. The school named after the nation's outstanding scholar has become the pride of generations of students and teachers, contributing to training many talents for the province and the whole country.

Proud achievements

Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted was established on April 25, 1985, with the aim of training talented students, creating a solid source for universities and national and international excellent student competitions. From the old facility that initially had only 7 classrooms, a simple dormitory for about 100 students, after 4 changes of location, up to now, the school has grown significantly in scale, with increasingly spacious and modern facilities. With an area of 45,000m², in addition to 3 classroom blocks (34 rooms), 6 laboratories, functional rooms, 2 dormitories, kitchens..., the school is currently completing phase 2 including a cultural house, library, multi-purpose house, football field... to better meet the organization of teaching and educational activities.

During 40 years of construction and development, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted has always maintained its leading position among high schools in the province and made its mark in many national and international intellectual competitions. Names such as: Tran Tuan Anh (Asia- Pacific Math Prize in 1999, Le Van Thiem Prize in 2000), Nguyen Tien Viet (silver medal in the International Math Olympiad in 2003), Nguyen Hai Dang (runner-up in the Road to Olympia 2019) ... are affirmations of the school's reputation and training quality. In the 2024-2025 school year alone, the school won 43 prizes in the national excellent student competition (including 1 first prize, 2 students were selected to participate in the Olympic team selection exam to compete internationally); 1 fourth prize in the National Science and Technology Competition for high school students; 51 medals at the traditional Olympic competition on April 30, including 18 gold medals.

That is not only reflected in the achievements of excellent students at national and international levels, the rate of admission to top universities, but also in the environment that values real learning, compassion, the desire to serve the country, and the confidence and bravery in each student. In the coming time, the school needs to continue to innovate teaching methods, testing, and student assessment, increase the application of information technology, expand international cooperation, build a dynamic and friendly learning environment, create conditions for students to maximize their abilities and creativity, and gradually bring the school to a new level.

These outstanding achievements are the result of a systematic and in-depth investment in the discovery and training of excellent students. Determining this as a core, strategic and continuous task, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted has built a highly specialized training program, selecting a team of teachers with solid qualifications, enthusiasm and experience. During the teaching process, teachers focus on differentiating students, encouraging creativity, independent thinking, and developing each individual's capacity, with the goal of helping students grasp basic knowledge, improve self-study skills, problem solving and apply knowledge to practice.

In 2002, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal from the President. For many consecutive years, the school has been awarded the emulation flag and certificate of merit by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Provincial People's Committee for its outstanding achievements in teaching. Currently, the school has 81 managers, teachers, staff and more than 800 students in 24 classes; each grade has 8 specialized classes including: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Literature, English (2 classes).

Not only known for their academic ability, students of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted also demonstrate their confidence and dynamism in extracurricular and social activities. Programs such as: "Lighting Olympia", "We know - We share", "Le Quy Don Courage", "Green Summer" and many volunteer activities have become brands, leaving beautiful impressions in the hearts of teachers and the community, contributing to creating the image of a generation of comprehensive students, constantly striving and spreading positive values in society.

Ms. Dang Ngoc Le Thy - Principal of the school shared: "We are grateful to the previous generation of teachers and students who laid the first bricks for the common roof of Le Quy Don. Many former students of the school have now become professors, doctors, talented managers across the country, the pride of the school. Entering the new phase, the school sets out 6 core values in training: Intelligence, kindness, discipline, cooperation, adaptation, dedication. This is the guideline for us to train students in thinking, skills and qualities. We believe that, with the love for the profession and the solidarity of the collective of cadres, teachers, staff and students, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted will continue to reap many sweet fruits, worthy of the trust and expectations of leaders at all levels, the education sector and the people in the province".
