Echoes: Newspaper NGUOI LAO DONG – 50 years of a glorious journey in the hearts of artists

On the afternoon of July 25, at the Pavillon Tan Son Nhat Convention Center (202 Hoang Van Thu, Duc Nhuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), the Newspaper Nguoi Lao Dong solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate its 50th anniversary (July 28, 1975 - July 28, 2025). In particular, the echoes of the art program were evaluated by the participating artists as lively and emotional.

The special art performances and the participation of many famous artists who have been associated with the newspaper throughout its half-century journey have created an unforgettable artistic space, imbued with the affection of artists and the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper.

Glorious journey through special scenes

One of the most touching highlights of the program was the musical scene "Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper - Glorious Journey" composed by journalist and director Thanh Hiep, performed by People's Artist Trong Phuc, Meritorious Artist Tu Suong and young actors from Lac Long Quan Theater Club.

With his powerful and emotional voice, People's Artist Trong Phuc won the hearts of the audience. He shared: "I sang with all my heart as an artist who grew up with the newspaper. Every line, every image written in the scene reminded me of the days when I joined the Lao Dong Newspaper to spread cultural values to the community. That was when the newspaper was still called Liberation Workers, and it has continued to develop to this day."

Meritorious Artist Tu Suong could not hide her emotions: "I feel like I am a small part of the great journey that the newspaper has gone through. There are memories from the early days of singing, being reported and introduced by the newspaper... Until today, they are still intact in my heart, when many years ago I was voted by readers and audiences for the Mai Vang award."

Gratitude song connects lasting bridge

Singer Duc Tuan - who has accompanied many art programs organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper - performed the song "Love Song" by musician Pham Duy with all his soul. "I have sung on many big stages, but tonight is one of the most special times. Singing in the cultural and artistic space of the newspaper is full of memories."

Meanwhile, singer Uyen Trang - a familiar face with the Mai Vang award - made the whole audience emotional with her song "Dat nuoc loi ru" by musician Van Thanh Nho.

She shared: "I was so moved that I was speechless when I sang this sacred song on the night of celebrating my 50th birthday. There are songs that seem to be born for special occasions like today, and I am happy to be the one to perform them."

Both brought to the artistic space of the 50th anniversary celebration soulful, lyrical melodies, paying tribute to the lasting connection between readers and artists.

Meet and Greet – Artists Gather

The art program was an opportunity for famous artists who had worked with the Lao Dong Newspaper to gather and express their gratitude. Among them were People's Artist Minh Vuong, Meritorious Artist Ca Le Hong, Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam, singer Duyen Quynh, musician Nguyen Van Chung, painter Le Sa Long... and many other artists who were present and sent warm and emotional congratulations to the newspaper staff.

Director Quoc Thao emotionally said: "The Lao Dong Newspaper is a rare newspaper that has closely followed the life of the stage and arts for many decades. Each of us, artists and directors, has had our names mentioned in the newspaper. That gives us more confidence to continue to contribute."

People's Artist My Uyen shared: "There was a difficult period, when the theater scene was in turmoil, but I still saw reporters from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper appearing in the auditorium of the City's Small Theater, quietly following and writing articles. For artists, that is like the remaining light on the stage, very precious."

People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association, expressed: "To me, the Lao Dong Newspaper is a place to preserve and spread the image of artists in a sincere and professional manner. The newspaper's companionship over the years is not only a media relationship but also a friendship. The Artists' Friendship Committee has received help from the program "Mai Vang Nhan Ai", the meaningful gifts given every year are proof of that good companionship".

Meritorious Artist Minh Nhi said with all sincerity: "I feel like I grew up with the Lao Dong Newspaper. The first articles written about me were from here. When times were difficult or there was a new play by Truong Hung Minh Art Theater, the newspaper always mentioned me. That feeling is not easy to fade away."

In particular, People's Artist Tra Giang, an icon of Vietnamese revolutionary cinema and the recipient of the "Lifetime Artist for the Community" award in 2024 by the Editorial Board of Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, brought a valuable spiritual gift to the "Mai Vang Tri An" program. The oil painting she painted during her trip to Can Gio was donated to auction to raise funds to support artists in difficult circumstances across the country.

"I painted this picture on a quiet morning in Can Gio. When I heard that the newspaper was organizing a gratitude program, I thought that if I gave a congratulatory flower basket, the flowers would wither, so I immediately thought of giving the picture. Because I know that what the newspaper is doing is spreading kindness, which is what art always aims for."

Artist burst into happiness

The vibrant performance of the DAT trio (Hoang Trung Anh, Quang Dai, La Tran Duc Thien) with the song "City Smile" by musician Pham Minh Tuan - the work in which he participated in the song composition campaign "The Country is Full of Joy" organized by the Newspaper Nguoi Lao Dong, created a vibrant atmosphere with a strong message: The journey of the Newspaper Nguoi Lao Dong is always associated with the breath of the country, with the changes of Ho Chi Minh City after 50 years of unification.

Singer Hoang Trung Anh - representing the young generation - expressed: "As a singer born after the country's reunification, I am grateful for songs like those by musician Pham Minh Tuan, and grateful to Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper for always preserving and inspiring love for the homeland for our generation."
