After the Geneva Agreement was signed in 1954, Lao right-wing reactionaries increased their provocative activities, causing border disputes in the Huong Lap commune area (Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province).

On June 1, 1955, our forces arrived at Cu Bai village in Huong Lap commune and planted the national flag at the border junction with Laos and the temporary border between the North and South, marking the presence of border protection forces and the temporary border in the western area of ​​Vinh Linh. This was the milestone of the establishment of Armed Police Station No. 15, the predecessor of Huong Lap Border Guard Station.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Huong Lap Border Post, in particularly difficult, arduous and fierce conditions, completed its national defense and security tasks exceptionally well, working with the locality to build a political base, maintain border security, and build Huong Lap commune into a leading flag in protecting public order and security.

The station coordinated with friendly units to shoot down 8 American planes, raise vigilance to suppress reactionaries, destroy and capture many spy and commando groups that infiltrated the area. The station also successfully completed its mission of helping the locality develop its socio -economy, doing well in people's foreign affairs, and building the Vietnam-Laos border into a border of affection, loyalty and friendship.

Huong Lap Border Guard Station firmly protects national sovereignty and border security.

The contributions and sacrifices of generations of officers and soldiers of Huong Lap Border Post have been recognized and commended by the Party and State with two times the noble title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces (the first time on January 1, 1967, the second time on September 3, 1973), along with many certificates of merit from the Party, State, Army, and local authorities.

Currently, to successfully complete their tasks, the unit's officers and soldiers always proactively stay close to the people, do a good job of propaganda and mobilizing people to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, especially protecting national border sovereignty and security; building new rural areas and civilized villages.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Anh Tuan, Head of Huong Lap Border Guard Station, said: In recent times, the unit has done a good job of building and supplementing a complete system of combat documents; regularly organizing practice of plans and strategies to continuously improve qualifications and combat readiness, combining strict maintenance of combat duty regimes, and completing all tasks when situations arise.

At the same time, deploy forces to grasp the area, closely coordinate with related forces to effectively combat and prevent all types of crimes and law violators. Focus on building units, creating a regular, green - clean - beautiful environmental landscape; comprehensively strong "exemplary, typical". In the past 5 years, 150 valuable pieces of information have been provided to serve the management and protection of territorial sovereignty and national border security.

Officers and soldiers of Huong Lap Border Guard Station perform well in mass mobilization work, maintaining close relationships with the people, local Party committees and authorities.

For the Party Committee, government and people of Huong Lap and Huong Viet communes, the soldiers in green uniforms are always a solid support. The officers and soldiers of Huong Lap Border Guard Station are always closely attached and perform well their advisory role to the local Party Committee and government in taking care of building and consolidating a strong political system. The station has helped people change their farming and breeding habits, closely "holding hands and showing them how to do things", developing the economy and stabilizing their lives.

Along with that, the Station actively called on and mobilized businesses and philanthropists to participate in supporting, donating, supporting and giving necessities, building 13 "Shelters for the poor in the border area" to help families with preferential policies, building lighting works in border areas, classrooms, village gates, civil works... Sponsoring 7 children in the program "Helping children go to school" and 2 children in the model "Adopted children of the Border Station".

In addition, Huong Lap Border Guard Station closely coordinates with the border protection force of Laos to firmly protect the territorial sovereignty and border security of the province.

Actively mobilize resources, organize visits and give gifts to border guards and people of Laos, contributing to the development of the western border area of ​​Quang Tri province, brightening the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers.
