TPO - Due to many flooded sections of the frontage roads on both sides of Thang Long Avenue, the Hanoi Department of Transport has just come up with a traffic diversion plan to allow motorbikes and buses to go onto the expressway lane to avoid flooding.

Hanoi Department of Transport said that due to the impact of storm No. 3, the provinces and cities in the northern region continued to experience heavy rain, hydroelectric plants had to discharge flood water, leading to rising water levels in rivers in the city, causing flooding in many locations on the Thang Long Boulevard service road (both sides) and in some residential underpasses.

To ensure traffic safety for people and vehicles traveling on Thang Long Boulevard, the Hanoi Department of Transport announced a plan to adjust traffic organization on the route so that people and vehicles, cars and buses can travel safely and avoid flooding.

Accordingly, from September 11 until a replacement notice is issued, the authorities prohibit motorbikes and buses from circulating on the Thang Long Avenue feeder road according to the following specific routes: On the right side of the route, from Km 7+00 (entrance to the railway underpass intersection) to Km 10+350 (exit to the An Khanh Urban Area intersection); from Km 20+00 (entrance to the provincial road 80 intersection) to Km 28+300 (exit to the Lang - Hoa Lac High-Tech Park intersection). On the left side of the route, from Km 16+500 (entrance to the Sai Son overpass intersection) to Km 7+00 (exit to the railway underpass intersection); from Km 28+300 (entrance to the Lang - Hoa Lac High-Tech Park intersection) to Km 20+00 (exit to the provincial road 80 intersection).

During this ban, buses are allowed to travel on Thang Long Avenue, with a maximum speed of 60km/h. Motorcycles and non-motorized vehicles are allowed to travel on the emergency lane of Thang Long Avenue, with a maximum speed of 40km/h.

Hanoi Department of Transport requested the Traffic Police Department - City Police to arrange forces to guide traffic flow for vehicles participating in traffic to ensure traffic safety, avoid traffic congestion; arrange forces to coordinate with the Department of Transport Inspectorate to ensure traffic safety, guide traffic flow, and regulate traffic at flooded locations on the Thang Long Boulevard service road.
