According to Ms. Thao, this year her family's rice yield reached nearly 3 quintals/sao. With this yield, Ms. Thao's profit was also much higher than last year's winter-spring crop.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cu, Director of Thuc Khang Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative, said: "This year's winter-spring rice yield of farmers in the commune is estimated to average 2.5 - 3 quintals/sao, farmers often sell fresh rice right in the field."

This winter-spring crop, Binh Giang district planted 5,746 hectares of rice, including 5,100 hectares of high-quality rice, mainly some rice varieties such as Bac Thom No. 7, Glutinous Rice 415, and Hung Yen Glutinous Rice. Binh Giang has formed large-scale commercial rice areas, mainly high-quality rice varieties such as Bac Thom No. 7, sticky rice 415...

Mr. Vu Van Luyen, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Binh Giang district said: “10 years ago, Binh Giang has zoned for concentrated production, forming high-quality rice areas with two main rice varieties, Bac Thom No. 7 and sticky rice 415, synchronously applying scientific and technical advances and cultivation measures in production. The winter-spring rice yield of the district this year is the highest in many years, estimated at 69.5 quintals/ha (1.98 quintals/ha higher than the average rice yield of the province) with a total output of about 40,000 tons".

The district's winter-spring rice crop is estimated to earn about 430 billion VND, 50 - 60 billion VND higher than the 2023 - 2024 winter-spring crop. This year's winter-spring crop is a bumper crop due to favorable weather and few pests. Binh Giang is one of the leading localities in Hai Duong in implementing machine planting on many areas. Machine planting helps rice to be less susceptible to pests and diseases, reducing the need for 1 - 2 sprayings of pesticides, the rice grows and develops well, is strong, and has a high resistance to lodging. As a result, rice productivity increases, economic efficiency is higher than manual planting methods.

Stable consumer market

Advantages of high quality rice varieties of Binh Giang: good growth and development, strong tillering, good lodging resistance, good rice quality

Binh Giang's rice consumption market is favorable due to the presence of many large-scale drying kilns and the strong development of rice milling in many communes and towns, which has created favorable conditions for promoting the purchase of rice for farmers. The construction of large-scale commercial rice production models with guaranteed product consumption for farmers has helped increase the economic value per unit of cultivated area.

Farmers in Binh Giang often sell fresh rice right in the field without having to dry or preserve it. According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Binh Giang district, this year, the price of fresh rice in Binh Giang is also higher than last year, in which the price of sticky rice 415 is from 8,700 - 9,800 VND/kg, and Bac Thom No. 7 is from 8,500 - 9,000 VND/kg. These prices have increased by 500 - 1,000 VND/kg compared to last winter-spring crop.

At this time, the drying kilns of Minh Huan Cooperative in Thai Duong commune are operating at full capacity.

Not only does it provide fresh rice purchasing services for farmers in the fields, many households have invested in building rice drying kilns with an average capacity of 20 - 80 tons/kiln in Thai Hoa, Long Xuyen, Thai Duong... Currently, Minh Huan Cooperative in Thai Duong commune has 8 drying kilns with a total capacity of more than 500 tons/day. Minh Huan Cooperative purchases rice from farmers in Hai Duong and some neighboring localities such as Thai Binh, Hung Yen. At this time, the drying kilns are operating at full capacity. Mr. Bui Van Huan, Director of Minh Huan Cooperative, said: "Currently, modern drying and milling technology is applied to production so that the input is fresh rice and the output is rice".

Along with the system of drying kilns, rice mills, milling facilities and enterprises in many communes and towns in the district, a large-scale rice consumption network has been formed, not only consuming rice in Binh Giang but also consuming rice from some neighboring localities. This is also one of the favorable conditions that makes Binh Giang's high-quality rice commodity stable in terms of output.

Zoning for large-scale, high-quality rice production with a stable product consumption network has helped Binh Giang farmers improve economic efficiency from rice production and cultivation.
