In late June 2025, more than 100 students from primary and secondary schools in the area such as Le Van Thiem, iSchool, Albert Einstein, Nguyen Du, Nguyen Huy Chu... participated in the program "Summer fun with books" with an exciting, close and engaging atmosphere at Ha Tinh Provincial Library.

Here, children not only get to share their favorite books but also discover the benefits of reading, learn how to choose the right books, participate in folk games, communicate in English and see firsthand the works that won high prizes in the "Reading Culture Ambassador" contest.
“By joining the program, I not only read more good books but also interact and discuss with friends about my reading interests. From listening to my friends introduce books, I learned how to choose books that are right for my interests and age” – Phan Phuc Nguyen, iSchool Ha Tinh International Integration School shared.

Not only the children are excited, many parents are also enthusiastic to join. Mr. Tran Anh Khoa, residing in Tran Phu ward, said: “My husband and I always consider reading books as an effective method to help our children develop their thinking and personality. In the summer, instead of worrying about our children hanging out at restaurants or swimming in the river, we take them to the library, a safe, useful and inspiring place. Luckily, the provincial library organizes many interesting activities that make my children want to come here every day.”
Mr. Khoa and his wife have two children who have been oriented to read books from an early age. Tran Anh Thu, a third grader, is only 9 years old but can share books in English fluently. "I am very happy to participate in this summer program because I can interact, speak English with my friends and talk about the books I like," Anh Thu said with eyes sparkling with joy.

To successfully organize “Happy Summer Reading”, Ha Tinh Provincial Library has dedicated a space of nearly 200m², reasonably arranged between the reading area, the exchange stage, the corner of folk games such as Chinese checkers, chess, etc. to help children access reading culture in a light and comfortable atmosphere. In addition, the library staff also plays the role of guides, supporting children in choosing books suitable for their age, interests and reading skills.
Ms. Bui Thi Hong Nhung - Provincial Library staff said: "We want children to develop a love of books naturally, without being forced. With that philosophy, the program is designed as a playground, not a classroom. Children come to books as if they were coming to an interesting companion."

Not stopping at the summer program, in recent times, Ha Tinh Provincial Library has also actively invested in upgrading facilities: adding air conditioners, modern tables and chairs, improving the lighting system... creating ideal conditions for people to come and read books. In June 2025, the library's professional activities doubled compared to the previous month: issuing 621 new reader cards, serving 7,740 readers, circulating 38,700 books and newspapers, receiving and cataloging 358 book titles with 406 copies, worth more than 68 million VND. In addition, the library also completed the delivery of books to support 3 community libraries in communes in the old Ky Anh district and town, old Can Loc district, old Thach Ha with a total value of over 60 million VND.
Mr. Mai Quoc Quyen - Director of Ha Tinh Provincial Library emphasized: "In the context of information explosion, reading is still the foundation to help the young generation develop comprehensively. We constantly innovate activities, diversify programs, especially focusing on inspiring a love of reading among young people. The program "Happy Summer Reading" is just one of many ways that the provincial library is implementing to bring books closer to young people".

With passion and constant innovation, Ha Tinh Provincial Library is lighting up the "fires" in the hearts of the young generation who appreciate knowledge and nurture personality from simple, familiar books.
During the summer days, the image of children passionately reading books in the library is not only a joy for parents and schools, but also a positive signal for the journey of spreading reading culture in the community.
