The ranking brings together companies in many different fields from 7 countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines and Cambodia. The ranking criteria are evaluated by Fortune based on the business size, revenue and net profit in the previous fiscal year (FY2024). Of the 500 enterprises honored by Fortune this year, the technology sector recorded a total of 26 enterprises.
According to Fortune, VNG was selected based on positive changes in financial indicators, consistent growth in core business segments, and flexible operating strategies and effective cost optimization.
Previously, at the end of May 2025, VNG was also honored by Globee Awards as "AI Enterprise of the Year".
In 2024, VNG's net revenue will reach VND9,273 billion, up 22% compared to the level achieved in 2023. Adjusted net profit from business operations will reach VND302 billion. VNG recorded a net loss after tax (according to Fortune's calculation) of VND1,080 billion, an improvement of 51.08% over the same period last year. Notably, VNG contributed VND1,114 billion to the state budget, marking the third consecutive year of maintaining a contribution level of over VND1,000 billion.
In the online gaming segment, total bookings reached VND 7,233 billion, of which 23% of revenue came from the international market, creating solid progress on VNG's 'Go Global' journey. Zalo continues to maintain its position as the leading digital platform in Vietnam with nearly 78 million monthly users and 2 billion messages sent every day. In particular, Zalo's revenue from value-added services (VAS) and business services (Business Services) has doubled compared to 2023 thanks to products such as zCloud, zStyle, zBusiness and the Zalo Video entertainment platform.
The Mini App ecosystem has become an important growth driver with 31 million monthly active users. By the end of 2024, Zalo will operate about 17,300 Zalo Official Accounts for government agencies and public utility services.
With the orientation of becoming an open and comprehensive payment platform from July 2024, Zalopay is currently serving 16 million users, cooperating with more than 52,000 partners and 81,000 payment acceptance points nationwide. Total payment volume increased by 39%, while revenue from financial services skyrocketed by 149%. The strategy of cooperating with banks instead of competing has helped Zalopay increase its QR payment market share to 57%, in line with the national digital transformation orientation by 2025.
Meanwhile, VNG Digital Business (VNG DB) witnessed a 70% revenue growth compared to 2023, of which 43% came from international markets. The finance and banking industry is identified as a key market for VNG DB in the coming time, with 70 partners to date.
The Fortune Southeast Asia 500 is an annual ranking compiled by Fortune magazine. Now in its second year, the list aims to highlight Southeast Asia’s increasingly important role in the global economy . The region is emerging as a center of sustainable growth, a manufacturing and export destination, and a strategic investment destination thanks to the global supply chain shift.
