Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said: Recently, the reception of Vietnamese citizens deported by the US has been based on the agreement on receiving back citizens signed between the two countries. The two countries have had close, quick and timely coordination on this issue.

"Vietnam is ready to continue to cooperate closely with the US to receive back its citizens in the spirit of signed agreements and hopes that the US will create favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens to reside, contributing to the development and prosperity of the US as well as actively contributing to the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace , cooperation and sustainable development," said Ms. Pham Thu Hang.

Vietnam's preparation for the risk of trade war

Also at the press conference, answering a reporter's question about Vietnam's preparations for the risk of a trade war, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said: "As a highly open economy that is increasingly integrating deeply into the world economy, Vietnam always pays attention to and closely monitors the situation and developments of international trade to take appropriate measures, minimize impacts on the economy, and at the same time contribute to the healthy development of international trade.

Vietnam pledges to strictly comply with international legal mechanisms, bilateral and multilateral trade commitments, strengthen international cooperation to build institutions, enhance capacity, continue to promote trade liberalization, and contribute to healthy economic growth."

Hope to cooperate with the US to overcome the consequences of war

Responding to a reporter's question asking for Vietnam's reaction to the US suspending support projects of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang stated:

We are very interested in the decisions of the US side regarding the US Agency for International Development (USAID). Over the years, through various mechanisms and forms of cooperation, including USAID, the two countries have cooperated very effectively in many areas such as health, education, environment, climate change, disaster relief, especially in dealing with the consequences of war. US aid projects have been effective in many provinces and cities across Vietnam and have brought better lives to each citizen who has benefited from the projects.

Ms. Hang emphasized that the suspension of USAID support projects, especially projects to clear mines and explosives left over from the war and to detoxify Bien Hoa airport, will have a strong impact on human safety and the environment in the project areas.

In recent times, the US's support activities and Vietnam's cooperation in searching for US soldiers missing in action during the war have had practical significance, contributing to strengthening the friendship between the people of the two countries, consolidating trust, building good relations between Vietnam and the US, and are even more meaningful in the context of the two countries celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

"In the coming time, Vietnam hopes to continue to implement these cooperative activities effectively and substantially with the US, contributing to the stable and long-term development of the bilateral relationship in accordance with the spirit of the Joint Statement on upgrading relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development," the spokesperson said.

Previously, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order freezing foreign aid, including cooperation projects with Vietnam in the fields of: health, education, bomb, mine and explosive clearance, post-war dioxin detoxification...
