Regarding the flooding situation on the Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway, Mr. Pham Van Loan, Captain of the Maintenance Team of this expressway, said that as of this morning (September 16), due to the prolonged overnight rain in Hanoi , the deepest flooded area at Km191+400 of the Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway reached about 0.35m, similar to yesterday's flooding level.

With the pumping station operating at maximum capacity, water in flooded areas on the Phap Van - Cau Gie highway is draining faster than previous days (Photo: Ta Hai).

"However, the water is still actively receding. In lanes 1 and 2 (two lanes close to the median strip), 4-seat cars and low-chassis cars can circulate normally," Mr. Loan informed.

Explaining the reason why, although the floods on Hanoi's rivers have receded, the drainage speed of flooded areas on the highway is still slow, a representative of BOT Phap Van - Cau Gie Joint Stock Company said that the reason is because the pumping of water into the Nhue River has only been done in the last 2 days. Before that, the pumping station only operated at a low level to avoid the risk of dike breakage as required by the authorities.

"Currently, the pumping station is operating at maximum capacity with 6 pumps operating 24/7. We will continue to coordinate with the authorities to organize traffic diversion and traffic regulation plans suitable for the flooding situation on the highway, ensuring traffic safety on the route," said the leader of the operation management unit.

Previously, from early morning on September 10, the water level in the downstream area rose, causing flooding at Km 191+400 on the Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway. At peak time, the water level measured at the deepest point was about 0.8m, and the lowest point was about 0.15m.
