At around 3pm, the Vietnamese team arrived at Noi Bai airport and was welcomed and encouraged by fans at the airport. Representatives of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) with General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu came to welcome and encourage coach Kim Sang Sik and his team.
Earlier, the Vietnamese team arrived at Kuala Lumpur airport to return home that morning. The players were somewhat disappointed when, despite their best efforts, they were defeated by the naturalized Malaysian team with a score of 0-4. After the second match, the Vietnamese team was pushed down to second place in Group F of the third qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
This result makes the goal of qualifying for the Asian finals more difficult for the Vietnamese team, even though the team still has four matches ahead, including the home match against Malaysia in the second leg.
After apologizing to fans and taking responsibility for the result, Coach Kim affirmed that the Vietnamese team still has a chance, and he and his players will not give up and continue to stand strong.
Upon returning home, the Vietnamese players will join their home clubs to continue competing in national professional tournaments.
Coach Kim will continue to monitor matches in the V-League, National Cup and First Division to find new faces for the team. The V-League will return this weekend, with the highlight being the match between Hanoi and The Cong - Viettel on June 15.
In September, the Vietnamese team will regroup to prepare for the FIFA Days in October. Coach Kim and his team will play Nepal on October 9 at home in the third round of Group F of the third qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
