The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the first Moomin work by author Tove Jansson - a timeless and iconic Nordic artistic legacy. The Moomin series consists of 9 classic novels, each work is a small world containing profound lessons about maturity, loneliness, family love and the desire to find a home. In Vietnam, the first book by author Tove Jansson, The Witch's Hat, was introduced to readers by Kim Dong Publishing House in 2010.
Up to now, all 9 of the most outstanding, poetic and humane Moomin works by author Tove Jansson have been published by Kim Dong Publishing House and introduced to Vietnamese readers through 8 books: The Witch's Hat , The Invisible Child , The Mumis at Sea , Mysterious Winter , Mumis and the Comet , Dangerous Summer Solstice , The Exciting Adventures of Mumis Dad and November in Mumis Valley translated by Vo Xuan Que and edited by Dr. Bui Viet Hoa.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the first Moomin work, Kim Dong Publishing House, the Embassy of Finland in Vietnam and The Initiative of Children's Book Creative Content (ICBC) jointly organized a series of global events with the program "Finnish Literature Week - Tove Jansson & Moomins 80 Exhibition".
For the first time in Vietnam, readers of all ages have the opportunity to explore the life of Tove Jansson and the world of Moomin in an engaging and vivid way through impressive exhibits, along with a series ofeducational and creative arts activities for all ages. This is a wonderful experience that helps Vietnamese readers, especially children, access a timeless Finnish literary heritage, nurture humanistic values and develop a love for literature.
Moomin 80 events take place globally under the theme “The Door Is Always Open” to spread a humane message of openness, acceptance and hospitality in the Moomin world.
The “Open Door” is a familiar image in every house in Moomin Valley, a place where everyone can come in, be heard, be themselves and be accepted with all their differences. In that world, love, care, imagination and freedom are always present. The theme of the Moomin 80 celebration series is not only to celebrate the tolerant lifestyle but also to invite all generations to enter the door of imagination, where children can discover themselves and adults can find the tenderness that has been dormant.
