Lo Lan: A beautiful girl, good at singing, likened to a wild orchid. Ly Phan: A poor, orphaned boy, talented at playing the flute. Lo Lan and Ly Phan fell in love passionately. Their love was hindered by prejudice and harm from bad people. To keep her vow, Lo Lan threw herself into a waterfall. Ly Phan, in pain, also jumped into the waterfall with her lover.
