Trung Luong Secondary School missed the chance to make a comeback in the quarterfinals of "English Window"

The two teams competed in the fifth quarter-final of the show “English Window” season 2.

The fifth quarter-final match of the program “English Window” season 2 was a fierce competition between two teams from My Chau Secondary School (Mai Phu commune) and Trung Luong Secondary School (Bac Hong Linh ward).

Right from the first round of the competition “Quick Eyes”, My Chau Secondary School team had an overwhelming advantage when they answered 8/10 questions correctly, earning 40 points. Meanwhile, Trung Luong Secondary School team had difficulty, scoring only 5 points with only 1 correct answer.

Moving on to the second round of the competition, “Quick Mind,” the teams took turns presenting in English around the topic: “Improving life in the digital age – Understanding, safety, mastery.”

The My Chau Secondary School team delivered a convincing performance with the topic “The Dark Side of Social Media – Are You in Control or Being Controlled?”. All 3 members coordinated well, presented engagingly, and received 27 points from the judges.

On the opposite side, Ha Nhu from Trung Luong Secondary School also chose the same topic. With a tight speech structure, good English pronunciation and rich vocabulary, Ha Nhu's presentation was highly appreciated. However, because it exceeded the prescribed presentation time, the team only received 28 points.

After two rounds, My Chau Secondary School team continued to hold the advantage with a total score of 67, while Trung Luong Secondary School team was in the chasing position with 33 points.

The decisive round – “Quick Hands” brought hope to turn the game around for Trung Luong Secondary School. The teams took turns opening 6 pieces of a puzzle by answering questions. Trung Luong Secondary School was the only team to correctly answer 1 out of 6 questions given by the program, gaining 10 more points, bringing the total score to 43.

The final mystery crossword question is worth 40 points.

The final cryptic crossword puzzle worth 40 points, “Which complex in Ninh Binh was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage in 2014?” was a “golden opportunity” for Trung Luong Secondary School to “make a spectacular breakthrough”. In the end, My Chau Secondary School team kept 67 points and won, officially entering the semi-finals of “English Window” season 2. Meanwhile, Trung Luong Secondary School ended the journey with many regrets, but also with courage and effort.
