People feel secure using clean water from Cu Lay Water Plant

(Baohatinh.vn) - After the incident where people in Hong Loc commune (Ha Tinh) reported that the clean water supplied from Cu Lay Water Plant did not meet quality standards, the provincial Center for Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation stepped in to handle the situation and ensure a safe water source.

Recently, Ha Tinh Newspaper reported that many people in some villages in Hong Loc commune said they discovered leeches in the clean water source supplied by Cu Lay Water Plant (under the management and operation of the Provincial Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation Center).

Representatives of Hong Loc commune government and people came to witness the incident reported at the family of Mrs. Cu Thi Hue (Trung Son village).

Immediately after receiving feedback from the people and a request from the People's Committee of Hong Loc commune, the Center for Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation of Ha Tinh province took action, sending specialized staff to the scene to verify the incident. At the same time, taking steps to handle and fix the problem.

Workers of the Provincial Center for Clean Water and Rural Sanitation repaired the problem from flushing the water pipeline in Hong Loc commune on August 20, 2025.

Mr. Nguyen Mau Dai - Director of the Center for Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation of Ha Tinh province said: “In all cases of reflection, we directly went to the households and recorded the incident. To promptly handle the incident, on August 13, 2025, we directed Cu Lay Water Plant to send a document to the locality and notify the people about stopping the water supply, flushing the entire pipeline system (from August 13 to August 16). At the same time, we requested the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Ha Tinh to collect water samples from the households reflecting and Cu Lay Water Plant to test the water quality.

Throughout the entire process, the Center also held meetings, announced, collected opinions and asked people and local authorities to monitor each step. By August 20, after CDC Ha Tinh had the test results of 3 water samples, ensuring that they met the State's standards on clean water safety, the Center officially restored water supply to the people. After that time, we have also conducted zoning to clean the pipes to each household to remove residue left over from the previous installation process. With many drastic measures, people can now completely rest assured when using the water source."

The test results of clean water samples were collected from households that discovered the incident and Cu Lay Water Plant, conducted by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Ha Tinh.

Along with quickly taking steps to fix the problem, the Provincial Center for Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation also sent a notice about the handling process and the results achieved after the process to the People's Committee of Hong Loc commune.

Mr. Le Viet Binh - Vice Chairman of Hong Loc Commune People's Committee said: "We highly appreciate the sense of responsibility and the prompt intervention in handling the incident of the functional unit. According to the documents sent by the Provincial Center for Clean Water and Rural Environment, currently, the water quality meets the standards, and people can rest assured to use it. However, to ensure the health and environmental hygiene rights of the people in the coming time, we request the Provincial Center for Clean Water and Rural Environment, together with related units, to regularly urge and inspect the treatment and operation stages of the water plant. Thereby, providing a water source that ensures the criteria for clean water for daily life for people in the area".

According to recommendations from functional units and authorities, people using tap water supplied by Cu Lay Water Plant can be completely assured.

According to information from the Center for Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation of Ha Tinh province, in the coming days, the unit will have a meeting with local authorities and widely inform people about the results of handling the incident. Thereby, helping people using clean water from Cu Lay Water Plant feel secure and stabilize their lives.
